Battery Problem
I went out to the garage to check on the dash lights last night. The lights were out. I had the headlight switch turned off. When I drove the truck I turned the headlight switch to auto and when I got back I forgot to turn the switch off but the lights turned off.
When I went out to check on it today the dash lights were on. I started the it up and let it run a few minutes. Turned the truck off and the lights went off. I am guessing it has something to do with the auto headlight switch.

I unplugged that wire on the alternator a long time ago. It now charges 14.6 volts all the time.
I pull a 14 X 7 enclosed trailer that has a battery in it to run my winch for pulling my cart in.
I have a volt meter so I can see what the alternator is doing all the time.

If the battery is going dead it is the park switch. It turns out the dash lights but leaves the blue ones around the bazel ring on. It also fails to turn off the main computer. The switch is on the shift mechanism and is not serviced by Ford. The column shifter is serviced. However, the console park switch is the smallest micro switch in the world. It cannot be replaced without breaking the finger like keeper. However there is a pin through the switch and I used a pin clip of one of my military pins. You can buy a switch from Mouser Electronics, Huston, TX. I think. Use the smallest micro switch to find @ about $8.00 Ford wanted $600.00 for the shifter. Hope this is your battery drain as it fixed mine.
Well, that's why more than one of us have mentioned that in this thread. Note ArmyCE4RET's comment about dealers. This is one of the better threads on it, I think, also discusses the other common problem, ignition cylinder: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/parasi...attery-333695/
