Default Bakflip F1 Update

Just thought I would update all on my experience with the Bakflip F1 I installed on my new 2013 Lariat Screw. I read numerous posts on this product and viewed several installation videos prior to making my purchase from Autoanything.com. Installation was easy. I was very careful to get it lined up correctly and took extra care to make sure all seals were straight and flat ( I ultimately used a heat gun to get them to lie flat). Today is the first time I have had it in the rain (steady light drizzle- no real rain). I have several leaks and we really have not had a real rain. There is some wetness in the tailgate area where I knew there would be and consider this acceptable. The other leaks are near all joints. Needless to say, I am disappointed. I thought the leak issues reported on here were probably installation issues, but I know that mine is installed correctly and still leaks. I wish I had believed the posts about the leaks. My advice to you based on my experience is to believe this product WILL LEAK. Just wanted to give all a "heads up" on my experience with this product.

I bought a 2011 FX4 off the lot with the Bakflip already installed. It has leaked from day 1. I tried sealing it more with some weatherstripping but didn't help. So I bought a Bedrug Bedmat and just make sure I never park on a downslope in the rain. I hate that it leaks but I still love the cover. With a little more time I'm sure I could fix it.

Bak Flip HD - I had Mine Installed from the place i bought it from, and has leaked from day 1. I called them told me to bring it in and they will adjust it......I doubt that will fix it.....thank god i kept my plastic liner in as the ribs help keep stuff on the floor dry......I bought it more for theft proofing things, and so far works for that!

I have a undercover flex on a '12 with a 6 1/2 ft bed. While I do see some minor water near the tailgate, it stays much dryer than I expected.

Mine leaked the first few days on the right side, but after a week or so no leaks in snow and rain, and even the car wash.

My BakFlip F1 leaks a little around the edges in a heavy rain or during a drive through car wash, but I expected this and consider it acceptable. I have the factory ribbed bedliner, which I prefer, and it helps keep anything on the floor dry. Overall I would buy this cover again, as the pro's far outweigh the con's. I personally wouldn't expect any bed cover to be totally waterproof unless it was the type that's 100% solid with no seams and overlaps the bed rail edges.

Mine doesn't leak. But I spent an hour heating every inch of weatherstripping.

No leaks on my Ford one from day one. Now a year and half old!
