Default Back Up Camera

I bought my 2013 F150 used around 3 years ago and have never had a problem with the back up camera. Over the last year the camera has worked intermittently but in the last two weeks it very rarely works. When it does not work, the screen will go black and flashes the message "Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership".

I have unplugged the wiring harness in the tailgate from the camera and removed and replaced the fuse.

Has anybody had this issue before or have any insight on what it may be/solutions?

When my camera acted up it was the connection to the camera itself. Remove the blue oval from the base and exercise the connection to wipe oxidation from the pins.

Removal of the blue oval will break its clips. Sand contact areas and adhere with silicone to fix.

Yea, Mine did the same thing. I ended up replacing the camera and calibrating it with Forscan.
Here's the video I made.

Same answer as other post:

You need to replace the camera then it MAY need to be reprogrammed, you can use Forscan. DO NOT BUY (IMO) anything other than a Ford part! Aftermarket cameras do not work with the backup bumper sensors and the quality from what I have read, is not all that good.

Just replaced my wifes Edge and reprogrammed with Forscan, all good again. My 13 has been doing this for about 3 months, strangely enough, it seems to be back on all the time now.

Also, if you get lucky and your 13 is made after a certain point, the Logo pops off and is re-useable. You need to go to a Fordparts.com and enter your VIN and let it determine which camera you need, they (OEM) are not cheap.

I'm not sure what your part# would be. I pretty sure it's different then my 2011 F-150 but everything else is the same.

Aftermarket cameras work just fine, and so do aftermarket backup sensors. No calibration was needed when I replaced both earlier this year. The camera works great, high quality image, and so do the sensors.

Ditto, my '09 XL did NOT come with a B/U camera.. I added one for hooking up trailers.. Looks OEM (part of latch), display is good, and it was not many $$$$.

For clarification: I am speaking about a Ford OEM installed camera on the tailgate, not some add on third party stuff. No one, no one, has yet to provide a third party camera replacement for the original OEM camera that fits in the factory place and operates like the OeM. Mot do not interface with the sensors in the bumper and folks complain about the picture being upside down, crooked lines, out of focus etc. Lets not confuse a third party aftermarket add on with OEM replacement.
