Adding remote start
I'd do aftermarket. Usually for less than $300 you can get a long range system installed that works great and has more features. I love the "pit stop" feature which allows me to leave the engine running while I run in and grab a gallon of milk or something at the store, but take the keys with me for safety.

i vote aftermarket as well. i have a '13 f150 with an aftermarket starter and a guy who works in my office has a '13 explorer with the factory system. i can start my car from my desk going through 5 walls in our office building, then get confirmation via the remote it is running. he has to walk almost outside for his to start.

I have no idea. But I'm sure you could look it up by model year on their website. I think they have a universal "brain" for all vehicles, and then a module that's specific to individual vehicles to make the brain "talk" to the ECU. Took them 2 hours to install everything.
If I open my hood, engine is disabled. If I unlock the doors, radio and power comes on. If I start the engine with the FOB, the doors lock automatically if they aren't already locked, then the engine starts. So it's all wired up perfectly.

I know in 2011 all trucks were already "equipped" with remote start. Meaning, they all have the ability, it just needs to be turned on and you need the right key. There is a kit on ebay for...maybe $200 and includes 1 or 2 new keys and the range extender. You could then use ForScan to turn on remote start and program the new keys.
I don't know that it's the same for a 2010, but you could research and/or use ForScan to first see if you can even turn it on before purchasing keys etc.

As mentioned 2011> have r/s built in, for 2010 I'd recommend Ford accessories, this kit will work and has extended range (1000') as well as feedback to let you know the truck started. https://accessories.ford.com/electro...ries-8889.html
