Is it possible to completely eliminate the "911 assist" function from the Sony audio system of a 2011 F150? I've turned it off but each time I start the truck within a minute the advisory appears and the radio function shuts down while the advisory overplays. It's annoying.

Just go into the settings and turn voice prompts off. It should just display on the screen that 911 assist is active without a voice prompt.

I've done what you suggested and the voice is muted; however, each time the 911 display shows, the audio portion of whatever I'm tuned to shuts down while the 911 display is on. If it's possible I'd prefer to eliminate the whole 911 thing. It's not a big deal, kinda like the hair in your collar after a cut!
Thanx

Hi breezer800 -

As a safety feature, you can turn the voice prompt off, but the message will still display. The only way to not see this is to turn 911 Assist on.

I hope you never have to use it, but it's a great feature to have.

Ah that is why I dont see it, because I have it on. Doesnt bother me, if I crash the phone calls 911. Not a real issue to me. You have to set the airbag off do you not?

I personally don't want it on and am personally miffed that it keeps reminding me when I purposely turned it off......sometimes I'm listening to tunes or news on the radio and I miss something interesting. And for those that state I should just put it on, I don't want or need the police to show up after each little bump !

I understand not wanting it on, and that is your right, so am not getting into the middle of that. However 'each little bump' is not quite accurate. I believe it is like onstar, you have to set off the airbags, which means you aren't going anywhere anyways.

It will only dials 911 when an airbag is deployed. It doesn't send any one out to the accident unless it gets no response from the people in the vehicle. I had a friend that had this happen to him and he was able to tell the lady at 911 that all that was needed was a police office for the accident and no one was injured. To me this is a great safety feature.
