Besides being a "quite old" thread, it's in the 2009 - 2014 Ford F150 forum.

Your 2017 5.0L is a different gen' of the engine.

So he claims it's not detrimental to the longevity of the engine? He seems to be a fairly trusted source for info. Sure seems more risky to have someone install a new shortblock than to hear a slight knock from time to time....
