I just posed some pictures and information today of an upgrade I had installed for my truck. Follow the link to the thread... *Note, this fits my needs and I used a subwoofer I had in my Dodge so you may opt for a better subwoofer set up. This Infinity has a hard punch but does not shake the truck. Just gives music great depth of sound.

Look in my signature. boston acoustics speakers. Attached is a link to them. Bought them from crutchfield. I had spoken to a rep at crutchfield. Those are the speakers he suggested.

I asked about the infinity and polk speakers and he pointed me to these Bostons. He said that a pair of infinity kappa's, polks would be his second option, but with the power handling and response, these would give the best response for my system.
I do agree with another post, that remember where the speakers are mounted. Alot of sound goes into my left calf. If you can, get a set of component speakers. It will take a small amount of modding, but you can add them to the front door. I would go with 2 ways for the rear.
Interesting, simple component speakers with an internal crossover;

I don't know. Once I get into the installation, I'll determine what I'll do. I hate the sync, but...I did order the PAC MS-FRD1 Radio Replacement Interface with SYNC Retention. Some say that you need this interface to install the new HU, even if I don't use the sync system. Some also say that I need to keep the sync system because other Ford electrical systems use/run through the sync system. Anyone have any ideas? Anything I need to know? Anyone already gone through this?

I got 4 Infiniti reference and they were really strong on the treble but fairly weak on the bass. They were a definite improvement over factory and crystal clear but too high for me so I yanked em out and contacted crutchfield for an exchange. Crutchfield was totally cool about the return. They paid for the shipping and i traded up to 4 Polk mobile monitors. Really happy with the sound quality now...much more well-rounded.
However, I do still have the factory HU and I have to agree with the other guys...factory HU through an external amp gives too much distortion at louder volumes (I about killed myself today by nearly driving under an 18 wheeler when a bassy song came on and the distortion sounded like gunfire.) The result is that you have to crank the gain down on the amp so far that it defeats the purpose of having one. Gonna get a kenwood excelon double din for fathers day...should be suhweeet!
