Default Rockford Fosgate Punch

I went to a local installer and they recommended the power series, but I saw the middle of the road punch series:

6x9” P1692 $74 (fronts)
6.5” P1650 $74 (rears)
P1T-S Tweeters w/ crossover $80

Has anyone used these products in a 2015+ F-150? I have a 2020 Lariat Sport without B&O audio and just want better sound.

I know Crutchfield supplies brackets and wiring harnesses, but I don’t think the installer I saw mentioned these. Are they needed if an installer is doing the work? It seems that the speakers are a direct replacement size.

Wrong speakers for the fronts. The 6x9 you listed is a 2 way speaker. You need a component set. Tweeter in the a-pillar, midbass in the door. Not 2 way in the door.

The Morel Maximo 6 component set will significantly outperform that tweeter/2 way combo listed above for less money.

I am a total novice at this, but will the 6x9 I mentioned and the tweeter listed above not play together? I was understanding that is what the installer was recommending....

You need a component set of speakers. Not a 2-way speaker and a tweeter. What the installer is wanting to do is not correct. A 2-way speaker has a tweeter built in. So if you run a 2-way and a tweeter, you will now have two tweeters playing at different locations in the truck. It will sound terrible. You may want to find another installer. A component set is all you need. The Morel Maximo has everything you need including crossovers.

I would NOT recommend going with the component version of the punch speakers. The reason being, the crossover is built into the basket of the woofer on the punch components. You would have to run new wire from the door speaker to your a-pillar which requires you to go through the molex plug in the door.

Ok, very helpful, thank you!

so I will buy those Morel speakers for the front, what about the rear?

And could that same installer be able to figure it out? Do I need brackets?

PM me for pricing. I'll beat Crutchfield everyday. I'll provide free mounting brackets and wiring harness for those speakers.

I would be concerned about the installer if he doesn't know how to install a component set.

Rears you can use the punch or morel Maximo coaxial.

Are you only replacing the speakers? Nothing else? If so that is actually super easy to do. A novice could have it done before a couple of beers.

If you are adding an amp, that is a little more difficult.

Just the speakers for now, thanks for the confidence!
