Any update? I was going to buy a PAC but they have been OOS everywhere there is a couple of the Metra's up on Ebay. Also does the outside temp display with an aftermarket setup?

I ordered the new Metra Turbo Touch kit and the new Kenwood DMX7704S. Hopefully should have everything by the end of next week.

Default Pac install

This may be the wrong thread, but i got my PAC unit all installed with a 4200 NEX, everything seems to be working short of my steering wheel controls, has anyone come across this? i double checked my dip settings (have #1,2,3 on per instructions). I am at a loss as to what is not working or what i did wrong. There was a headphone type plug as part of the PAC wiring harness labeled steering wheel control, but not really sure where this would be plugged in. Anyone have any ideas?? Or anythign else that may be causing the steering wheel controls to now work.

thanks...

I just looked (ended up with a spare pac unit) the plug labeled steering wheel control is grouped with a blue/ yellow wire.

On my kenwood deck it had an input wire for steering controls
I just looked at the diagram for the 4200 nex and I don't see one?? It has a yellow black that says mute function, but that doesn't make sense

The manual also says it has a plug for a wired remote but that makes no sense either?
I would call pac and see if they know. There customer service is pretty sharp

I will probably go that route (calling PAC). At least i feel a bit better since nothing jumped out at you. It is strange because i am getting feedback to the PAC unit when i push the steering wheel buttons (the light on the brain flashes when i push steering wheel controls), but nothing happens. So much fun.

On a side note i installed the axxess usb panel https://axxessinterfaces.com/product/AX-FDUSBAUX
and the android auto doesn't seem to like the USB connection, it does have HDMI so i will keep the panel, but i also need to test a different usb to see if it is the cable.

So much fun....

Think i figured it our mudder. I think i need to plug the 3.5mm jack into the back of my head unit to the remote wired input, #4 on the picture. makes sense now, duh. Took a night of rest, looks like i get to tear the dash apart again tonight and test that out.

At least it isn't just for that, have to run a new usb and recess my deck a bit more into the dash.

thanks for your help and quick responses.

I hope you end up getting the Metra kit soon. It took me almost two months to get it. A lot guys on ebay are selling them without actually having them in stock. I am having mine installed 6/5 and I will report back then unless someone else gets it before me.

Screwed again by Ebay. Seller ran out of stock...................makes me sick Ebay is now a drop shipper haven. At least the seller called me and offered $75 back if I waited along with the $40 Ebay bucks I received makes the total cost of the kit. $385

Sorry to hear that. You might be waiting for a long time though. The guy I got mine from said the distributors were only getting a few each and when they were gone it would be a while before they would get more.
