Default Greetings and Salutations

Some of you may recognize my username from other forums. I sold my old '92 F-150 to my step-son and he's pretty stoked to have the old Black Moriah. I bought my company truck last year because it only had about 75K on the clock and I know who's been driving it since 1.4 miles on the clock, how well it's been serviced, and where it's been. It'll probably be the last truck I own.

Ennyhoo, still alive and kicking and decided to come check out another forum. Waiting for the local parts house to get a few trinkets for me. Meanwhile, here's a photo of Clifford the day I got it.... It's big, it's RED.

The day I picked up Clifford

Yeah, that's what it was bought for. The company used to get us 4-door sedans (Impala, Taurus, etc) but we had so many guys my age that were getting back injuries from lifting heavy test equipment in and out of the trunks or back seats, EHS told 'em to get us the right vehicle. It only took 35 years for them to figure it out. Another bad habit they had for a while was getting the smallest possible power plant in our vehicles. Better fuel mileage they claimed. WRONG, not when they're loaded to the point of the rear suspension sitting on the bumpers and the engine's so weak it can't even get out of its own way. They absolutely refuse to get anything with a turbo on it unless it's burning diesel, so we wound up with the 5.0's. Didn't hurt my feelings at all. These trucks are STOUT!

I've had this one since May 2014, and have just discovered its first major maintenance issue. I've got what appears to be a very common coolant leak issue on the top rad hose where it connects to the tee. O-ring failure appears to be the issue.

But, I'm looking to solve a few more nuisances and maybe consider some electronics upgrades from the old SYNC system. That stinkin battery minder is a PITA. The way it operates is completely stupid. It tells me to turn off everything, and then turns on the headlights. DUUUUUHH. Like the car stereo is going to run the battery down faster than the lights? Especially old school halogen lights? I'm an electrical engineer, and have done energy management most of my career, and will definitely say that the person that came up with the Battery Minder system in these trucks is an IDIOT. Already have FORSCAN and have added an OE brake controller and put it in Bambi mode. But that's about all I've done with FORSCAN.

Gonna lurk a bit, and see what I can find out on here. Somehow, though, the 2014 model seems to be something of a dark horse. Not sure why. It's a little different from the 2013 due to some suspension changes, but the most intriguing thing is nowhere have I found a complete listing of all the parameters for the various modules in the truck. One would think they're not proprietary anymore on an 8-year-old truck.

Thanks for the flowers and I won't hesitate to say that I've already had great luck with this truck. Maybe not quite as reliable as my old 92 was, but it's still been a darn good truck. Not many miles (75K) for it's age, but the old Chevy 2500 van in the background did a lot of the heavy lifting and hauling for work. Probably spent equal amounts of time in that versus Clifford.

Me and my work buddies all joked after I got mine that it delayed delivery on fire trucks to most of the local fire departments. I didn't know what Vermillion Red was until I got this truck. I do now. It's EFFIN RED!! I got asked "WHY?" many times. If I had it to do again, it would be Racing Ruby Red (metal flake, much darker). This thing sticks out like a dog's *****. Sure is easy to find in a parking lot, though, especially with that ugly ARE cap on it.
