Me and my work buddies all joked after I got mine that it delayed delivery on fire trucks to most of the local fire departments. I didn't know what Vermillion Red was until I got this truck. I do now. It's EFFIN RED!! I got asked "WHY?" many times. If I had it to do again, it would be Racing Ruby Red (metal flake, much darker). This thing sticks out like a dog's *****. Sure is easy to find in a parking lot, though, especially with that ugly ARE cap on it.
Yours is considered Race Red like mine. The Vermilion Red is a little darker and the Ruby Red Metallic is the darker metal flake color. I didn't want a red truck either but after about a month of searching I found one that checked all of the boxes and I actually like it now.

Nope, it's vemillion red. I ordered it, and we had very few paint options. Everybody and his cat ordered the black or blue with the crushed glass. Being me, I had to be different. Mine was the last one ordered where Fleet gave us any options on color. After mine, we could order any color we wanted as long as it was white. I love Ford trucks, but ANY truck painted white is FUGLY. Maybe that's a field service engineer thing, dunno.
Vermillion red is another way of saying RED DAMMIT! I probably still have the build sheet for the truck (found it under the passenger seat). They were pretty good to us on these trucks. They even included $600 WeatherTech mats and 750VA inverters. The upfitters were idiots, though, and cut enormous holes in the nice mats to put the inverters on the passenger side floor board. DOH! Then I kept finding the carpet wet under the passenger side. That was because the idiots punched holes (2 inches away from a grommet) in the floor board and didn't bother to seal them with anything. Fortunately, I live in the south, and we don't get salt, or I'm sure by now I wouldn't have a floorboard on the passenger side. I plugged the holes and relocated the inverter to the passenger side box on the ARE shell where it would be more useful anyway.
I wonder if something changed then? When I look mine up it comes up as Race Red paint code PQ I think it was? I always see Vermilion Red as a darker color. Here's mine for reference. I may just be color blind though too
Yours is slightly darker than mine. Race Red wasn't available in 2014, or at least not available for us to order. Ruby Racing Red was an option, but that was a metal flake color more like burgundy. A co-worker got one, and I was thinking Vermillion would be a bit darker too, thinking I'd get something close to Crimson (yes, I'm a UA graduate and Tide fan). I knew my next vehicle order would take me close to retirement because of having the van available. At the time I ordered, I was also investigating some custom skin overlays to dress it up. Couldn't touch it as long as it was a company truck, but I bought it in June last year. Mine to tweak the way I want, now.
