I used to work in a shop that did tinting, and i can tell you that there is basically zero difference between what they are installing and what you can get from any store with an auto shop. The price comes from installation, not the equipment.
Actually it is ammonia in glass cleaners that f it up.I have 5% all the way around"excluding the windshield" and no issues. At night is a slight bitch.I have had 5% tint on my vehicles since I was 16 years old and never an issue.Name: truck 003.jpg

So what % on the front is a close "match" to the factory tint on the rear windows. Its sounding like 15-20%?

Thats nice to know, since I've always put 35% on all my cars, but never had to match. I like 35%

No idea what I have. I had the dealer do mine before I agreed to buy. Just enough for the front windows to match the rear.

wouldn't it multiply instead of add? in other words, if you put on 35% tint, you are taking away 65% of the light and let through 35%. now of that 35%, you take away 85% and let through 15%....so 0.35*0.15=0.05, meaning you effectively have 5% tint.

just wondering.

Not quite. 15% is a perfect match IMO while some say 20% is the right one. I'd go with 15% because the windshield lets in so much extra light. I had 15% and it was great.

I just had 20% put on rears and strip on front with 35% on fronts for around $200 for a 2010 super cab. The 35% is good on the sides. It cooled the temps cosiderably in the cab! I love it and it may look darker because I have the sterling siver paint, but it looks plenty dark!

Exclamation Window Tint %

I got 35% all the way round but I suggest that before deciding on the % that you check first the current tint law limits in your state. Check it here www.TintBuyer.com. They provide relevant information about window tints such as its types, quotations and will help you find the best professional tinter near your area.
