If I do end up doing an oil change, you can bet that I will get one of those drain valves and some tubing.
My dealer has $30 oil service specials several times a year, so I let them do it. But I've used that drain valve on other vehicles and have one on my boat now, and they work great.

I believe that out of my 5.0, the Ram Hemi 5.7 and the new GM 5.3, the Ford 5.0 has hands down THE BEST spark plug location. It looks very accessible while the other two look like a pain in the ***. So its not all bad for me.
Yes changing the oil is more of a hassle but not so bad that I'd call the whole truck a letdown.
