What a let down
I'm kind of with the OP on this one. I understand that these engines go in more than one car, but I would think they could make a drain plug easy to get to. I get that the oil filter is a different story.
And I could see how some people just look past that tiny detail, but it would be very annoying to me.

Let me state with this first sentence that I like my truck. Its a 2014 F150 4X4 XLT Super Crew. But I am so absolutely let down that a company the size of Ford Motor Co. cares so little about the post purchase consumer. Have you ever tried to change the oil on a truck like this one? Its beyond ridiculous. The drain plug for the oil sump is partially blocked by a couple of metal hydraulic lines and then theres the big one inch thick brace that crosses almost directly underneath the drain. And then theres the oil filter. Jesus!!!! First, you can hardly see it. Then unless you a smaller person you can't get up in there with the necessary tools to remove it. You know, I've gotta believe that Ford has some of the best engineers in the business. And the fact that they can't design these two points to make it easier for Ford owners to perform their own regular maintenance is pathetic. So rather than rant any more on this subject, I'll just finish with this statement.... Before I ever purchase another Ford vehicle, I will inspect these two points. If it is still as ridiculous as it is in this truck, I WON"T BUY ANOTHER ONE. I hope someone from Ford reads this thread. If Chevy or Toyota or Dodge have a better design for performing regular maintenance, then thats the one I'll buy.
DUDE, you have got to be the biggest idiot on this forum. Your bi*ching about an oil change?!?! for realz......... Here is a future idea for you. Stop being a cheap Sh*t and take it back to the same ford dealership that you paid(most likely) over 30k for and just pay them the $40-$50 to do the oil change. ITS really not like your saving a whole lot of money doing it yourself. the dealer is only charging you $17-$22 for the labor. If your that cheap when is comes to saving 20 bucks doing it yourself. Well my friend you should have never bought a truck yet alone be driving a vehicle.

BTW great idea to base your next vehicle purchase on where the drain plug is located
If he was a troll, he was a terrible one. Any decent troll would have been in here replying and getting everyone's panties in a bunch. Maybe he was just ranting after beating the crap out of his knuckles for the better part of a day.
I get wanting to do your own maintenance. I probably won't do the oil in my truck, but I was raised doing my own. Some folks enjoy it and look forward to it. I do know that Skippy down at the quick lube probably isn't going to be as thorough and possibly notice potential issues like Mr. Shadetree.
If I do end up doing an oil change, you can bet that I will get one of those drain valves and some tubing.
