It sounds like the ducting is not a covered part under your extended warranty, as most ducting is not.......unless the damage done was due to the failure of a covered part.

Sorry to hear about your problems at the dealership. I would take the advice of others on here and get them to replace the motor and take your truck to a garage to get the rest fixed at a 1/3 of the price. Good Luck!

Look some of you guys are not even reading what I said, and just spouting off. I'm not looking for any hand outs. One of the parts was covered under my warranty. The other ISN'T. So if its on covered under my warranty here it won't be covered at any other dealership. There are some things I expect that are not going to be covered. But some things are just plain out BS. The part that isn't covered should be. And I'm tryin to get that changed. Now when you start start asking for records for something that has nothing to do or in anyway related to what's wrong. Well that's just a shady way to just to just wash your hands of it. What they are doing is just like sayin your warranty dosent cover the buttons on your tv and because you don't have any records of changing the batteries in your remote there isn't anything we can do for you. And I don't care who you are that's wrong. I'm not asken for much. And as far as gmc.... how much worse dose it get than to do nothing at all?

The duct is a non-wearable item. I let my cousin borrow my Blazer and he busted the rear window out. I made him pay for it, because it's a non-wearable item. If the alternator had gone out then I would have been responsible because the few miles he drove it wouldn't have caused that.

To some point that makes sence. But it's part of my AC unit. I have a hard time with how much wear a tub that air flows through gets alot of wear. And if that is true the there should be all kinds of parts that shouldnt be covered. Everything gets wear! The lil motor that controlls which vent my air flows out of was covered and it was worn out. So what you just said doesnt make sence.

I would try to find out more about this duct. Just does not sound right that the duct has to be replaced. Why? Motor went out -ok-fix it but what does that have to do do with the duct?!
I have never heard of the actual ducts in a vehicle needing replaced unless it was damaged in someway. How do they know it needs replaced if you have to dismantle the dash to get to it?

As far as service records go, It is not required to keep records by law. Most can tell first of all if say your oil and filter has not been changed in 15,000 miles and same for transmission etc. I do my own oil changes in all my vehicles, rotate my tires etc. and have no receipts. I get my oil from work because I do not have to pay for it so, no receipt. With that being said I have never been denied warranty work because it is against the law.

On the other hand I have owned Chebby and GMC and Oldsmobile. Mine were in for noises and rattles and leaks etc. My Olds had bad wind noise and GM told the shop manager to have us turn up the radio!

My Fords have been the most reliable overall and the best service.

A wear item has moving parts, which the duct does not. The little motor that controls your vents has moving parts and is a wear item. Another example, your fender is a non-wearable item. If someone smashes it in then it's not covered under warranty and is your responsibility to have it fixed, either out of your pocket or with insurance.

In other words what Sean is saying is, that under normal use of your truck there's no way the duct work would just go bad or become damaged. They're saying something happened to the truck that doesn't happen to 99.99% of all the other trucks out there so, therefor it's not covered.

But big companies don't have the ***** to say "It's user error" or "It's your fault" anymore, they just hope that you'll read between the lines and figure that out for yourself. It is what it is.

Speaking from experience in dealing with extended warranties.....KEEP EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE TO IT!! Especially required services. I blew an engine in my GTP, the warranty company looked for every reason how NOT to pay for a new engine. The only receipt I didn't have for an oil change was the first one I did myself (oil and filter from Walmart). Thank goodness I have a friend who owns his own repair shop and he wrote me a receipt, otherwise it would have been rejected for the new motor.
