Angry Upset with ford

I just took my 07 supercrew in cause I was haven trouble with my ac unit. Well found out it was the motor that switches your vent position was bad and also my duct that run through the firewall. The motor was cover under my warrente. But the duct wasn't and the wanted 1k to fix it.. I was pissed! Called Ford to see what they could do about it, they basically asked for all records of maintenance. Well I don't have everything so that was there way a washing there hands of it. I don't have all my oil changes so they won't do anything about the duck for the ac unit... I will never own another Ford as long as I live!

if you still have warranty in your truck, and you want to be able to do service under the warranty, yes, you have to keep all receipts for the services required in the book, even more important if you do it in a non ford dealer.... but you just figure out that.... sorry this was the way.

now, how the duct can be bad? crushed? broken?

I understand that part. But what is wrong with the duct I don't know all I know is its hardly blowing out any air. And that has not one thing to do with any regular maintenance that is done. Had it been something with the engine I can understand but this has nothing to do with that.

Suck it up and get a private owned garage to do it for $200 or do it yourself is the only option now. I wouldn't let it steer you away from the best trucks out there tho.

Have you tried taking it to another dealership? I'm trying to figure out what exactly could be wrong with the duct work itself...but at least they are willing to replace the motor under warrenty. I'd have them replace the motor and if that doesn't solve your problem, take it to an independent shop.

Sorry to hear about it

Did they tell you the actual part name or part number? They need to tell you what is wrong with it. I can't think of anything besides outside damage that could mess up the actual plastic duct, in which case it shouldn't be warrantied.

They can't deny your warranty because of records because there is absolutely no standard maintenance that deals with the A/C system. That's like Sony denying a claim for your TV because you don't have receipts for the batteries you put in the remote.

You could always fill in a maintenance log with all the standard maintenance, there is no rule that your mechanic has to do your service.

I know it dosent sound right. But i talked to the service department and the motor that controls the switch from floor vent to window ect.. was covered. But that duct wasnt. He couldnt tell me for sure what the problem was but he was sure it was the duct which isnt covered. So i called Ford customer care to complain because they wanted 1K$ to fix it.( I asked how hard it would be to fix and the tech said forget it.. you have to pull the whole dash out and drop the heat coil ect.. And it was a job thats why it's 1K$ to fix it.) But Ford basicly said oh well.. and if you dont have all your maintence records we wont even talk about it. So i'm pretty pissed i spent 40K on this truck in 07 when i got back from Afgan. And it's already falling apart at 3 3/4 year old. On top of that they charged me 100$ to take it in for the waranty work. And my 5.4 sounds like a power stroker, Which i complained about. It just started doing that and they said it's fine. So i'm just kinda stuck. So ford at this point for me can just shove it.. i'm going to get a GMC! And buddy if they were the best trucks every mine wouldnt be fallen apart and ford would at lest back there product which in my clase they clearly didn't!
