The Ultimate MPG thread.
I have an 09 STX regular cab with 164k miles on it. My mpg had dropped down to 15.5 mpg around town. I was getting a code of P0130 now and again, so I suspected that the o2 sensors were getting old. I bought a Autel AL519 code reader that gives a graphic display of the o2 sensors. I noticed that the o2 sensors were very slow in responding so I changed them out. I'm now getting 17.5 mpg. I also noticed that when I keep the rpms below 2k, my mileage improves greatly.
Greetings All..
I picked up a new 2016 4x4 2.7L XLT Supercab (my 1st truck) two weeks ago and have put 1100mi on it (only used 87 octane). Used mostly for local commuting traffic in the northern VA area breaking it in but at approximately the 360mi mark I was able to take it out on a 400 round-trip run from VA to PA (Philly) up/down the I-95 corridor. During that run I was getting these rates (sampled at 30 min increments) and they were pretty consistent through the trip:
@ 65mph = 24mpg
@ 70mph = 22mpg
@ 75mph = 19mpg
This weekend I added up all my fuel receipts and did a manual calculation of fuel consumption for the vehicle over the two week lifetime and it averages out @ 20mpg overall. Certainty better than I expected.
I can only hope that it can be maintained as break-in continues, but as I have been reading, I can expect reductions based on the upcoming cooler weather. Until then... Cheers!

I have to ask what speeds you're driving to/from work. I average about 50-55 miles round trip (admittedly fairly level terrain), but unless I'm over about 65, my 2011 5.0 FX4 with 3.73 averages better than 20mpg. I also have the 36 gallon tank. What configuration is your truck? Perhaps I can offer some suggestions to help improve mileage.
Does anybody put any Chevron Fuel System cleaner every 5000 miles in their gas.
And any lucas fuel additive

And seen how it made your truck run.
