Default Thoughts on purchasing a 2015 F150 HDPP

Hi, all. Looking at buying a 2015 F150 XLT FX4 HDPP 3.5 EcoBoost with 132xx miles. The truck looks to be taken care of very well visually but there are no written owner records with and very few oil changes recorded on the carfax. The interior and exterior are immaculate.

I have been doing extensive research on the well known problems and believe I have a decent understanding of them.

Asking price is $22k. Should I be worried about getting another 2-300k out of it without major expenses? I looked up the VIN and the website said it had the heavy duty payload package but the axles are 6 lug and not 7 lug which is contrary to what I have read. It has the integrated trailer brake. It's very hard to find the 6.5 ft bed let alone the hdpd package along with it. I would be using the truck for construction work with the occasional trailer and so need the 6.5 bed.

My major concern is the miles. I would prefer finding a 15-17 with a 6.5 bed, at least the trailer tow package and fewer miles. I understand the payload package requires the 6.5 bed. However finding one is proving to be a difficult task. I cant really afford a f250 6.7 diesel and even if I could, do not want the risk of major diesel expenses. My current truck is a 03 f250 6.0 with 470k miles. Bought new.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.

The HDPP's now have 6 lugs since 14 or 15. 13,200 miles or 132,000 miles ? If the latter, that thang has had the crap driven out of it, altho I am sure the salesman would say it is all highway miles. My '13 has 62,xxx miles.

Yes 132, 000 miles. I'm inclined to think they were mostly highway miles. I hate to pay so much for so many miles as the resale value will soon start dropping like a rock once it crests 200k.

I wouldn't pay over $20K. Start it up on a very cold morning and listen closely.

Why? I read something about the timing chains? It has a bad stumble miss under wot. They are fixing it. I won't buy it before knowing that's 100%. If it wasnt so hard to find that specific combo, I'd look elsewhere. The 6.5 bed is so hard to find especially with the 3.5 EcoBoost. And yeah 18-20k is what i was thinking. I suspect that they will get it fixed and sell it to someone else at a much higher price than they would get from me. Lol.

If it doesn't rattle on a cold start, timing chains have probably been fixed. Then again, they say a lot of them go 200 or 300 K miles without an issue. The stumble at WOT might be a rev limiter ? Does it do it while in park or while driving ?

The bad stumble miss under wot is probably spark plugs. Lots of people on this forum recommend changing them @ around 40k miles, maybe sooner if running a tuner.

$22k for a 2015 HDPP truck is pretty good, even with those miles. HDPP trucks are *rare*. Expect to check spark plugs, change trans and differential fluids, and t-case fluid, and wouldn't hurt to do a brake fluid and coolant flush either.

They have replaced both spark plugs and coils and it's still doing it. They have about one more chance to fix it the stumble is much improved after the coil change but not 100% yet.

The vin decoder on this forum says it has a maximum of 2070 lbs payload and max of 8900 lbs towing. But it also specifically specifies the hdpp so I'm not sure what's up with that as the numbers seem low. It also says the paint is red but this truck is white.
