Tickets are "amended" all the time. Honestly in most cases you can see the magistrate before court even starts and plea to a lesser charge. As much as people like to think the world is against them I assure you they don't want you filling their docket any more than you want to be on it.

Unless you truly ran across that 1 in 10 ******* cop I still feel there's more to this story than meets the eye. I'm not saying you're wrong, don't take it as an attack. I've been pulled over for having 1 of 2 license plate lights burned out before so I know where you're coming from. In that case I received a warning however.

My only problem is people that throw around words like "quotas" which by and large are simply fabricated excuses by people who get tickets and don't want to accept responsibility for their own actions.

The bottom line is you are in violation of the law. Make it right, take pictures that prove it, apologize for your ignorance of the law and I'm betting you get off with nothing more than court costs. Those are a rip off too but this is a gov't we're talking about after all.

While I will not go so far as to say that police agencies have quota systems I would like to point out that each officer does have what almost all of the rest of us have and that is a boss... Now that boss wants proof that you have done something all day (or shift). I am sure that when each officer (depends on internal regs of course) will need to turn in a vehicle status sheet, which will indicate a few things about the cruiser, including the mileage at beginning and end of shift and condition of the vehicle... Now if the vehicle only has 5 miles on it, the officer went to 2 calls during the shift, I am sure the boss would like to know what happened the rest of the shift... This is an exaggeration of course but I think you can get the drift... Most larger cities have what the officers call enforcement zones, areas that have a lot of recent accidents, speeding or citizen complaints... These areas will generally receive a little more attention during the shift and those assigned to that area better have some tickets written or the boss is going to get a little miffed....

It says you can only run aux lights with high beams but not as headlights themselves. It says the fogs can't be used as headlights either but the only thing it says is that you can't use them at the same time as the aux lights and that both lights need to be on a switch that won't allow them to be on at the same time. The 20" thing is the only violation I can see unless the are over 42". I'd try and fight it on semantics.

Smart cops use the law to fishing, to stop someone and check his buisness and make sure he is all legit. Like it or not we need nosey cops out there checking people, especially in these times. Stopping someone for an equipment violation gives you reason to check them out. If this happens to you, and you are legit, dont challenge the cop or break his *****, he is doing his job and if antagonized will strike back.

i have a friend and she got a ticket for having her highbeams on, she tried to tell the officer that they are just brighter bulbs and her highbeams werent on. He replied "I need to meet my quota" so im gunna say they recognize they have to write a certain # of tickets, they might not offically call it their quota but they do have to write tickets to look like they are doing something on thier shift as camstang said

I dont know why I have to say it over and over again but I was as nice as I could possibly to this police officer, and there is no more that meets the eye. As I stated before the police in this area will go all out for a few nights a week and pull people over non stop throughout the night.

The Bottom line here is that I am not in violation of th law I was cited for, and I am not sure I was even in violation of the 20 inch law.
