Nitto Mud Grapplers vs Trail Grapplers

I can't figure out how those with the Nitto Trail Grapplers are saying that the tires are quiet? I have 305/55R20s (33-inch) and mine are the loudest tires I have ever owned; much louder than the larger 35-inch KM2s I had previously. Almost everyone who rides in my truck comments on how loud my Nittos are especially at highway speeds as they literally howl and become tiring when trying to have a conversation or listen to music.

I have 35x12.520s and they arent unbearable. They are obviously louder than the stock tires but nothing compared to the Muds my buddy has.
I have definetly never had an issue with having to talk over the noise.

Mt as mud terrain? Are both nittos mud terrain? Not all terrain and mud terrain?
Where are you finding best prices online.
I found these guys reasonable. Any other places you know of or should I just take these guys prices to a local shop?

Trails are an all around off road tire that does ok on the road. They are designed to be in between an A/T and a mud. Muds are designed for mud, but does well off road and not as well on road.

Very interesting. I have had MTs a lot too; it must be my setup as the tires do stick out quite a bit but my 35-inch BFGs on my lifted '09 FX4 stuck out more on the -12mm wheels and had less noise.
Maybe my hearing is getting sensitive in my old age....lol.

Different rubber compounds, tread patterns and width are big factors in road noise. Muds are typically the loudest of tires, but it's not always the case. Tires also tend to get louder with wear, so that's something to take into consideration when comparing two different tires.

They did well yesterday. Had some real heavy, greasy snow (first of the season, surprisingly). Only really needed 4WD on some of the steeper hills.
