HELP ME! Sync update issue
All -
First time poster, long time reader. Anyway. I recently updated my 2018 F150 from the 4inch screen to the 8 inch. Everything went great. Plug n Play. All is well. Well, my dumb#$s decided to do a Sync update on the new radio....I didn't even think twice but I used my old VIN when I downloaded the update on Ford's website...I plugged it into my truck and completed the update....and now.....I've got a blank screen. but when I put my truck in reverse, I can see it's only showing the backup camera in a tiny 4 inch box like I have my old screen still in there...
HOW CAN I FIX THIS?!?

I wasn't aware that was even possible, so kudos for (somehow) getting that to work. Find a truck with the 8" screen on eBay and use that VIN on the Ford update site to download the update and install the correct one for the 8" setup. The updates aren't VIN specific, you just need to use a VIN that came stock with the 8" setup.
I'd try to run it again. The APIM has two partitions, so you may need to run it twice to overwrite both partitions. I'd also unhook the battery for a few minutes to let the APIM reset.
If that doesn't help, I'd recommend following this guide and doing a total reformat. Keep in mind it's in no way a Ford authorized method, but it's better than a botched APIM. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/upgra...ctions-458828/

An issue I'm having is when I plug in my thumb drive to update again, I cannot see if it's working or not as the screen is black. And I'm not sure how long to let it run. The last time I let it run for 1 hour, shut it off and turned it back on...still no good.
Would you disconnect the battery before doing the update again, or after?
