I will as soon as i graduate. U guys got me wrong. Home life is favorable. I make all my money. Stuff isnt handed to me and i dont get high dollar presents. Christmas is about family and presents. My birthday is about being around my friends and family, not presents. I dont take charity, i dont need it. Im just wondering how i can persuade my parents to let me spend a bit of the money i bust my *** for. Im not complaining. My dad helps me out with mechanics ALOT. I ask him questions eveyday, mom helps me with logistics and managing the bank account and what not. they dont do he work. They just coach me. Im fairly self sufficient already. But thy control my spending very strictly.

In order to be fair to your parents, my wife and I don't let our son spend a lot of money on things we consider a waste. Our excuse is, as most parents; our house, our rules.

You really should respect the rules that your parents have set down for you, otherwise you should take the money you would spend on mods and move in with a friend. You don't need to wait to graduate, many people on this board probably left the nest while still in school, I did.

You may know it, however, do you respect it?

If you work for your money and bills are payed, then yes its nice to spend some on something you own and love! I would not go puting a new roof on or paint the house your parents own!

My son is the same way, though he's only 10. Our rules are set in order for him to learn that although they are flexible at times they should never be broken with disrespect. We do compromise with him, on a daily basis it seems. I still think you should have a sit down with your parents and try to set a budget, but the final say should come from them.

I was in the same boat when I was a teenager, the Lord knows I am getting my payback now!

I always told my parents it was mods or drugs and booze. Seemed to work pretty good. You might offer to help them out sometimes or pay the light bill
