I won't argue that the ecoboost was somewhat fun to drive, but that does NOT outweigh the inherent design flaws the ecoboost has.

Most people only do routine oil changes, air filter changes and some swap spark plugs out every 20k-30k miles. I've been driving Ford trucks for over 30 years and the Ecoboost is the easiest plug change I've ever done. There's only 6 plugs and they only cost $3.99 each at Orielly's, so it's easy and cheap. Fortunately your 6.2s didn't need frequent plug changes because there is 16 of them and they are about $7-$8 each.

I'm surprised you had lots of power towing a 31' with your 5.0. I would think it would be screaming at highway speeds, given the power band and all.

I've had my 2011 Eco for two years almost. Not one engine issue since buying it, used. I pull a 26' travel trailer and the truck hauls it effortlessly. Much more noticeable towing with ease, compared to the 2010 5.4L F150 I had.

Baaahahaha, love all the wadded panties in this thread. If the coyote is archaic and in 2nd place, that makes the silverado 5.3 prehistoric and in last place. its all relative. Man do I feel bad for those Chevy guys and their gutless 5.3's. At least Ford knows how to make a good small v8.

I had the 5.3 in a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV. It may have just been the police package programming but that thing wasn't much of a slouch once you got it rolling.

That being said, my Eco would put it to shame any day of the week.

Yes until 2014 the 5.3 would be considered "archiac" it was the Vortec design.

Now it is a Ecotec3 design and has DI. I think the only thing shared are some of the material types used and displacement, oh and that slightly more perfected "cylinder deactivation technology"

The 5.0 archiac comment stems because alot of members here "claiming" that the 5.0 is tried and true' that good ol' boy been around since at least the 90's!!!

When the cold fact is, it was an entirely new design in 2011? It is just as old as the ecoboost and if not I think it might be even slightly newer.

I think the 5.0 coyote shares some of the material types used and the displacement from the 5.0 of yore, THAT'S ABOUT IT.

Truly amazing display of personal bias in this thread. Hardly exclusive to this thread though, I think most people fall into these thinking traps from time to time.

1. It's not MY CHOICE so it's TERRIBLE.

2. Not the most advanced thing on the planet so it's from the stone age.

3. Mine BROKE, so the entire design is TRASH. Every example ever made is a time bomb, and I refuse to accept any evidence that the rest aren't as bad as mine.

There is much closed-mindendess here. Do we all really need to condemn all other choices to make us feel better about ourselves? Most five-year-olds do that, you'd think as grown men we'd be past that.

just to fan the flames, like the evil pest that I am, are there as many of these threads about the 5.0? Seems when it rains it really pours with the EB's. I have often wondered if maybe I should have gone with the EB, but after towing my 5th wheel many thousands of miles with the 5.0, I 'shudder' at the thought of being dead on the road so far from home.

perhaps there are lots of threads like this, and in my bias I only notice the troubled EB threads, but it seems these come up often:
