Advice on Undercoating
I just got a really nice, well maintained 2018 F150 and I'm considering getting it undercoated with Fluid Film. I live in PA and we get hit pretty hard with road salt every year. I'm thinking about having this done every Fall. I'm lucky enough to have an experienced shop near me and I'm considering having it done but I just wanted to check here first to see if there are any reasons why someone would NOT get it done. The shop offered a couple different options, one of which included spraying inside the doors, tailgate, frame, etc. They are highly recommended and have all the proper tools to do it the right way, so I'm not concerned about that. My question is are there any downsides to doing this that would affect the truck in any way? Because once it's inside the doors, tailgate, frame, there's no going back. I assume it's OK for any wiring, controls, etc. inside the doors and tailgate? I've never had this done before and I appreciate any input or experience anyone has. Thanks in advance!
Go with Wool Wax. It holds up much better than Fluid Film. I do use FF inside the frame. Otherwise, the rest of the steel parts get black WW.
I would avoid all aluminum parts. I haven’t seen any body corrosion on these trucks.
I do the frame, suspension, axles.

I’ve been using fluid film for years and it definitely works. I apply it myself. Put on some old clothes and crawl underneath and spray it basically everywhere. I try to avoid directly spraying any electrical connections, but it gets on them and I’ve never had an issue. I definitely recommend fluid film. I may have to look into wool wax after hearing about it.
Thanks for your reply! I did watch some videos online when I first thought about getting this done and Wool Wax was a pretty popular choice. The shop uses that brand too so I'll definitely ask about it. I appreciate the info!

Since the truck is aluminum, I did wonder if doing the inside of the tailgate and doors was even necessary. My initial thought was just to skip those parts. I appreciate the information!

Thank you! I found this forum on Google when I was looking for the cause of a clunking sound coming from the bed. Turned out to be the leaf spring isolators. Seems like there is a ton of really helpful information on here so I'm looking forward to browsing the posts. Any idea on how to delete a reply/comment? I haven't found that option yet. This is my first aluminum bodied F150, but no I have never done the doors or tailgate. I think like mentioned before it’s even less of a concern with the aluminum.
