Getting mine done monday. They usually ask exactly 386 for a truck but cheaper, a lot cheaper for a sedan.
Getting new filter gasket and red fluid...

Really though you can't beat getting a quick change instead for 99 bucks. A quick change may sound like a bad idea but it is a much better service.
Up to 99 percent of fluid is removed when a specialized quick change machine is used ( although the filter is not replaced) only 40 percent of fluid is removed if you drop the pan professionallh and change the filter.

Thing is all new fluid with an old filter is a disaster. If i had the money it would be ideal to do both ... get it changed at a quick machine place (which real trans shops dont usually have this machine) then pull out their driveway and take it to a real trans shop and have them change the filter and add fresh oil again. At the miles you have, 40 percent will not be sufficient.

Only bad thing with getting all the fluid out is you will be removing any metal pieces that help the clutch not slip (important for old trans not so much new). with mine having 117k on it i didn't want a flush but wanted a new gasket and filter and fill with new fluid to clean and help the shifts.

I dont think it would cause problems at such a low miles. I have like 139k on mine. Carfax says it was serviced at 50k so thats like 90k on it. Cant really justify the extra cost roght now even tho i would like a quick change instead. O well, most quick change places add really cheap unheard of oil anyway. And most wont pump mercon lv back in because the thinness of that oil they say damages their equipment so they never add the right stuff back in. Back when i did this for a living thats how many shops unfortunatly were. Its so hard to find good honest service these days.

Getting mine done in a couple of thousand miles. Hoping that it improves the increasingly frequent hard downshifts.

my boss got this tuner from 5-star tuning and he said his shifts were like butter. fluid quality makes a difference, might not fix your issue but will definitely help.

You are correct .it is a bit of a pain. 5.0.and the exhaust is in the damn way . Real crappy design. But i did mine on the ground no jacking all 4s . Instead jacked the front lifted tranny a bit to get it right. Went back in with a deep AFe pan with big magnet, drain plug and cooling fins. 2 qt extra capacity and also went and installed tranny dipstick before they got outrageously priced. Dont get me wrong mine was stainless rope stick and quality parts but theyre high as a kite now. If i recall correctly under/over 500 on both. Allen set bolts all the way around no problems sealing, but did go back under to tighten and make sure. Qlso installed diff cover very nice. Parked at apts and someone tried to take it. What a deal. 3 bolts shy of getting it. Someone mustve spooked them good. Cant keep nothing nice anymore. Everyone wants it too. Aint like the old days, if it aint yours dont touch it. Appreciate it from afar.

I thought about doing the upgrade and I’ll definitely be getting the dipstick in the near future. I don’t plan on keeping this truck forever so I’m just trying to get it by and hopefully sell it while it’s good. I hate how hard the 10speed is, kinda jealous my buddy has a 6 speed 5.0 and we did his in the driveway lol
