Lets you drain by choice just the fluid for more frequent fluid only changes (without filter etc. & especially if towing) & of course it makes it easier when doing a complete diy service !! Also note the motorcraft gasket is re-useable........just inspect it beforehand !!
on my truck you have to jack up the transmission to get the pan out and I don’t have the equipment. I know it’s pricey but I heard a guy say someone did his for close to $1000 so I think it’s good. Definitely when I do it again I’ll buy a pan with a drain plug. That quote includes labor, filter, gasket and some fluid. The advisor said it could be more depending on how much fluid it takes. It’s never been done which is why I’m getting ford to do it.

I would have done a pan drop when you bought and replaced the filter as well as the current miles. Now is better than never though.

Did mine at 60k and would again at 90k if I don’t have a new truck by then.

well I’ve never done it before but I have a little hard shifting in the lower gears (like most 10r80s). Trying to do some preventative maintenance. Getting it done tomorrow, will update after

when I bought the truck I never thought anything of it but regret that now. I got 117k which isn’t horrible since ford recommended to do it at 150k. I plan to do it just for preventative maintenance and to hopefully help with shifting

that seems like a ton. Also, would suggest you find out “exactly” what they will do and not do. Just by your statement that sounds like they won’t be dropping and cleaning the pan, nor changing the filter??? And if so, it’ll probably just get hooked up to machine.

I have older truck/trans, but I did mine, no lift, in the driveway. And it really didn’t take that long.

Id be very leery to turn your truck over to ford for that (especially for that much cash)

Have not looked up your trans/pan, but you should be able to order a pan with a drain plug. That way future drain/fill would be as easy as an oil change. If I was going to pay shop to do it (a pan drop service), I’d have them swap pans and ask for old pan/filter back.

you’re already paying for all the same labor now…. If you do let them do it, just buy the pan now (no extra labor should be charged), then will be easy to service fluid moving forward.

I’m getting it done tomorrow morning which is the only time I have available with my work. If I had more time available I would definitely order a new pan. Probably after 50k miles I’ll do a new pan and stuff

the 2018 f150 with the 10r80 is a bitch to replace. You got to like lift the trans up to get it out the way and to like fill the trans u have to get it to operating temp and then fit ur finger next to the cat and not try to burn yourself. She told me it was the cost of labor and new filter and new gasket and fluid change. I would assume if they take it out they would clean the pan. I’ll definitely make sure, I’m first off going to tell them to check the fluid Before dropping it just incase it’s to bad and shouldn’t be touched. I specifically said for them to do drain and fill with the pan and that’s what they quoted me for everything new so it’s not the flush. My ford dealer doesn’t do the flushes unless it’s a newer truck so I’m in luck. But I will definitely make 100% they understand what I want and don’t want. I appreciate your help and thought I will update after I get it done

I was going to check the fluid level on mine a little while ago and the damned bolt where the fill port is was way too tight. Pretty sure it was as is from the factory. I left it alone. Meh.

mine was crazy tight but I used a bending ratchet and got her loose. I’m just wanting to change my fluid because I tow a lot and want no issues
