Default 117k miles, should i replace the trans fluid?

Hello!

My 2018 f150 with the 5.0 and 10r80 has 117k miles on the dash! bought it with 80k miles and have no clue if previous owners did any transmission work to it. I wanted to ask if anyone would recommend me doing any kind of service to the trans and what kind of service (full flush or drain and fill or nothing). let me know what you think, any advice is welcome!

Instead of asking. Try searching, reading the owners manual and checking the fluid too see it's condition.

Ford recommends 150k but they say to do it sooner if towing. Ford also recommends that you do your oil changes at 7500 miles which is a stretch. I thought I would ask to see if anyone would advise against it/ have some experience to point me in the right direction. i have checked the condition and it is still red but dark, really don't want to mess up the trans as its all I have at the moment. but I do appreciate your comment!

find fordtechmakuloco on YouTube and video on pan drop / filter / fluid.

id never let a shop hook it up for a full “flush”.

yea I have been told to stay away from a flush. Planning to get a shop to do the work since I didn’t have a lift/the time to tackle it myself

I would have the fluid changed , you don't know how the previous owner drove it or maintained it.

not sure if that's a good deal but I think it's a good idea to change. Interested to know if you notice a difference in shifting or anything?

Whoa that's pricey.....If you have a mind to do it yourself I would do it !! You should be able to crawl underneath it without jacking it up ?? I bought my motocraft filter + gasket & also Mercon LV from Amazon & you'll probabaly save $200.oo... NOTE: I welded a drain plug into the bottom of the pan when I did mine ....
Lets you drain by choice just the fluid for more frequent fluid only changes (without filter etc. & especially if towing) & of course it makes it easier when doing a complete diy service !! Also note the motorcraft gasket is re-useable........just inspect it beforehand !!
