Audio Upgrade
I've been trying to research audio and it is a bit overwhelming. Seeing what y'all have done to upgrade your truck?
I want to keep it as original as possible so I don't want a new single din head unit from Walmart. Possible options would be to spend the $$ on a retro head unit that has Bluetooth and then I can hook up an amp and subwoofer.
I don't need crazy bass, just would like a good sounding system. Do I go with coaxial speakers or go with compartment speakers + sub + amp? I've seen folks add speakers behind the seats and/or under the seat (I currently only have door speakers)
If I could get away with keeping original headunit and add Bluetooth I would but looks like only option for that is FM transmitter which is pretty much junk for decent audio unless y'all know of something else?
So, what have y'all done to upgrade your audio without breaking the bank?

You get zero points for having an antique radio, or a crazy-expensive antique-looking modern radio. Get one that has the features you want (whatever shape) and then get an install kit to fit it to the dash. Back when DIN was a new & rare shape, I had to buy an install kit for a Toyota and modify it to fit my dash (which also required modification). I don't think I have any pics with the radio installed, but it looked & worked well for many years. This & the NEXT few pics show how it was installed:

I'm running an Alpine single DIN CD player, with cerwin Vega 6x9's behind the seat, 6.5" speakers and cone tweeters on the door. Two 12" subs behind the seat. I got the whole setup from eBay or Craigslist, so I only have $250 wrapped up in it. It's not competition level, but I can hear it over my Cherry bombs.
I don't want a modern looking headunit.
@77f150Explorer How did you add tweeters? So you have 12" subs AND 6x9s behind the seat? What brand and what amp?

The amp is mounted to the back of the box. I can post a pic if you'd like.
