Trip reset automatically
My 2021 f-150 does this almost every 2 weeks. I fill up every 11 days on average. And I can barely make it to the next fill without trip odometer resetting.
. I've come to the conclusion that this is due to periodic updates. If so, they should first capture the values in those registers, then put them back at the end of the update. I have to use the main odometer now for measuring fuel mileage. Poor programming.

This problem is across multiple products at Ford, including the EVs. My Trip 2 data, reset when I took ownership at the dealer, recently reset the miles per kilowatt data (i.e. MPG), and it's gone forever. Trip odometer's miles didn't reset, but it's the same 13 miles less than the odometer, a useless measure.
Just got my 2021 back after 15 days. The dealer said they don't know what to do to fix it. They said they contacted Ford and they didn't know what to do. Also said Ford said they have not had any complaints about it.

my 2022 does the same thing…i haven’t tried to determine what causes it. i only have 1200 miles on it and i have had it reset a few times without telling it to.
i use it for an oil change reminder.

I have a 2021 stx that has done this multiple times. I know what causes it on mine. It has something to do with leaving the door open too long. I thought this was the culprit a few months ago but can now be 100% sure because today on a nice late winter sunny afternoon I cleaned the cabin of my truck and left the doors open to air it out, never once inserted the key other than to roll down the windows and shut it back off. After a few hours, hoped in the truck and side enough trip 1 and trip 2 were reset back to 0

You might be on to something! Several times I get in truck after work and find it reset. However, when leaving truck in morning to go into work, I remove key, get out open back door, then lock all doors, then spend couple minutes consolidating everything into my lunchbox in the rear floor cuz all goes through xray belt as we walk through bomb sniffers, metal detectors. Then close back door and head in. So that may have something to do with it! Will have to run some controlled tests. Thanks!

I don’t know if it’s leaving any of the doors open or just specific door, but I’m almost positive I noticed once it was reset after leaving driver door open for like 10 minutes. Like I said I don’t know if you leave any door open for a “x” amount of time it will reset or if it’s limited to a specific door “drivers” I really don’t know. But I do know that the software of this truck is not good, the cluster between the rpm and mpg guages is god awfully slow and laggy for a 2021 product and the camera lag and quality is the worst I’ve ever owned (both which the service manager said was perfectly fine and not an issue of course). And the 10 speed transmission almost always skips 2 gear and nearly always slams into 4th and 5th gear, even after having the adaptive tables reset twice by the dealership. Seems like their engineers definitely did not cross their T’s and dot their I’s. Probably the last ford I will ever own. I had a 2019 5.0 that burned oil like crazy and a 2018 with the 2.7 with a leaking (plastic) oil pan that could not be fixed and a 3.55 rear end that the dealership “tried to repair” multiple times which was the biggest nightmare I’ve ever had to deal with [about 12 trips to the dealer, for multiple days at a time, under warranty, and never even got a loaner] but back to the 2021, I’m in love with the v8 engine, but the transmission and quirks of the software programming have got me very disappointed
