Default Towing Mirrors

Hello all I'm new to F150s and have tried to do as much research as I can before I came here. I'm coming from a Hyundai Veloster Turbo that was perfect for the south Texas heat but after retiring from the Army and moving to northern Minnesota not so much. Plus I need to be able to tow a 22V drop down Ice Castle RV.

I know towing mirrors on 2021s are their own debacle between an added feature not including with the towing packages and the chrome skull caps for sport packages. My FIL got a 2021 Lariat sport with the chrome on the towing mirrors looked ridiculous.

Regardless, I am the proud owner of a 2021 XLT 3.5L Powerboost sport. The dealer ordered the towing mirrors part# ML3Z17696DA. From what I have read these are the heated, BLIS, folding and telescoping version. My XLT does not have folding or telescoping as an option. Looking at previous gens the Lariat door wiring harness and door module is needed to convert along with the appropriate window switch and telescoping switch. In addition to some FORScan reprogramming. What are the part numbers for the Lariat door wiring harness and modules? I can't seem to find a part diagram for this.

In addition can these mirrors be manually extended and retracted? I thought it messes up the telescoping motor? Thank you in advance.

My understanding is those mirrors will come with a new bezel and a switch to allow the powers extension. You won’t be able to manually extend them, I don’t think.
the question is… if you buy a mirror switch that has the power fold button, will it have the wiring and program to fold the mirrors?
that’s is something I’d like to know.

From the parts diagram for the part number the dealer ordered it looks like that switch and bezel come with it. However, it will not matter as after taking off the door panel last night the wiring harness that is in my XLT does not have a plug for the extension switch. I am in agreeance with you that I do not think they will be able to be manually extended without damaging the motor. -Pascal on this forum and in this video converted a 2015 and needed the wiring harness and modules from a Lariat to complete the retrofit.

Going off this picture the dealer ordered the wrong part number as I do not have 360 camera either. I just need to find the part numbers for the lariat wiring harness and modules.

I believe I have found the correct part numbers for exchanging the module and wiring harness using my father-in-law's VIN which has power-folding and telescoping towing mirrors. I am going to take apart my door again and see what my module part# is because if it can just be reprogrammed it will cut $170 off the $760 price tag for the below items. Then again I am new to Ford so I may have this all messed up.

The module part# I believe is 14B291
The wiring harness or jumper wire is part# 14631A LH and 14631B for LH
The Window Switch with power folding mirrors is 14529A
The window switch plater is 14527B
Telescoping Switch is 14527B

You posted “base” part numbers, which are the same regardless of options. The prefix and post numbers are what determine the different options.
if you go to a dealer with base numbers, they’re going to ask for a vin.

Thank You gives me a good starting point. Is the full part number XXXX-14B291 for the module as an example?

Not quite. For example this part on my truck is: MU5Z-14B291-D on the drivers side.
the passenger side is MU5Z-14B291-E

if a part gets superseded after the truck is manufactured, usually they’ll change the last characters. So “D” might be superseded to G

my truck does NOT have power fold mirrors. If you give me the ViN on a truck that does have all these options, I can get you the service part number for the correct switch.
I can also tell you what pins in the switch connector go to what in the drivers door module.

Here is a list of part numbers that I come up with that correlate to the base part numbers you posted.
I believe the base part numbers you posted are "engineering" numbers, so they change to what is here:

For the switch housing, I don't know if you'll need both of these checked parts above, or one or the other.

Thank you very much! Is the driver and passenger control module the same? As I am sure I will have to upgrade that as well. Thank you
