Retrofit Power Fold Tow Mirrors to XLT
Hi Folks,
I think I searched thoroughly and while I saw this question asked within other threads I've not found an answer yet. I got a great deal on upgrading my 2011 F150 to a loaded 2015 XLT Screw + Sport + FX4 from a dealership lot and while it has LED tow mirrors I'm astounded that they're not power folding.
I live downtown and I'll do what it takes to retrofit this.
My tow mirrors have the LED's, they're heated and power adjustable... I guess I'll need:
- Power Folding tow mirrors from a KR or Platinum?
- Matching switch
- Harness?
Thanks for any input before I walk into my dealership to get slaughtered.

module part numbers--dg9z 14b291 vj and dg9z 14b291 vk
mirror number ---fl3z 17682 kaptm and fl3z 17683 kaptm
door wiring ---- fl3z 14631 a and fl3z 14630 e
mirror switch---- fl3z 14529 ca
spotlight switch----fl3z 13d730 ea
spotlight module---fu5z 13c788 a
dash vent trim which holds switch ford spotlight----fl3z 1504339 db
pretty straight forward install install new mirrors, door modules, wiring and switches.. the wiring for the spotlight module and switch is already there from the factory.... the door modules have to be programmed with the as built data from a vehicle with power folding option..... to get the spot lights to work I ran a jumper between pin 1 and 2 on the green connector that plugs into spotlamp module...this basically sends 12 volt power to the module at all times so I can now use spotlights at any time.... also installed the lariat instrument cluster part number fl3z 10849 cja and that had to be programmed with the as built data of a truck with same options as mine and it flawlessly

I am doing the swap to trailer mirrors right now. all you need is to call your local ford dealer and order the trailer tow mirrors that are power folding and order the switch that has power folding option on it and swap the parts. The trucks come prewired for all the options. But sit down before they tell you how much each mirror is.

I imagine it's gonna hurt; thanks for the heads up that the truck is prewired though. I'm gonna post my non-power tow mirrors for sale and see if that will help recuperate some of the cost.
Do you mind taking a few pics of your install and reporting back in this thread? Would be much appreciated and helpful for future reference!

My lariat has them as well. I don't have the chrome caps, so maybe that will save you a few bucks vs ordering KR or platinum ones. Probably negligible in the overall price though. Good luck!

How is the truck prewired? I have already seen three different connectors for the mirrors. Someone already made a thread about having to cut and wire up some tow mirrors. Would like to do this also but thought a harness was needed. You can pull the sail panel or mirror cover and see the connector without removing the door panel.

Thanks for the reference, I'm gonna take off the sail panel and investigate what connector is in my truck. My tow mirrors have every feature except power folding which is the one I really wanted. Serves me for being impatient and buying off the lot.
