Towing Mirrors
Due to a delay with the driver-side wiring harness, the truck just made it into the dealership shop on Monday. They have everything installed as of this evening unfortunately the power fold and extend function has been working intermittently. They think it is a wire cross somewhere between the XLT wiring going into the Lariat door harness used for the power fold/extend function. Before I took it in, I went in with FORSCAN and changed the tow power fold/extend to enabled. One thing I am curious about, with it being the power tow fold what does line <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->740/741-03-16 need to be sat at (<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Mirror_Folding_Cfg: 00=Ford, 01=Lincoln, 02=manual, 03=powerfold)? I believe I set it at 03 for Powerfold but do not remember, or can power-folding TOW mirrors be set like a lincoln? Another interesting thing is the female plug for the lock/unlock switch is different on the Lariat harness than on the XLT. I find this super weird as to why would you need a different type of plug for the same function. That would require ford to make two different lock/unlock switches. I know the Lariat VIN used for the that came from the factory with power fold/extend was manufactured earlier in 2021 and my XLT later.
Yes, I mention in the post I did do this, but to clarify I did it for both DDM and PDM. Not, that it matters as I'm sure the dealer has overwritten it at this point. What is 740/741-03-16 xxxx xxxx **-- set at from a factory built Lariat and above with power folding/extend tow mirrors? With it being part of the power folding function seems it would have an impact. Regardless, I wonder why the power fold/extend is functioning intermittently. Even if a wire was crossed seems like it wouldn't function at all if that were the case.
Finally got the truck back today after a week and a half. They said "everything" was working. When I got in the truck and by "everything", they must have meant only the telescoping and not power folding. Rather than go back in and let them have my truck for another week, I figured I would just see what FORSCAN showed. Went in and none of the power-folding options were enabled. On the DDM I changed Mirror Folding Configuration from Manual to Power Fold and Trailer Tow Fold to Enabled. After writing and pushing the fold button the passenger mirror went and the driver's side flinched. By process of elimination having Trailer Tow Fold enabled it would cause both mirrors to flinch. For my F150 only Mirror Folding Configuration to Powerfold would allow the tow mirrors to fold after pushing the fold button.
I'm sure I'm not the first to complete this process but, I have not seen a different post identifying successful integration of BLIS, Power Fold/Telescoping tow mirrors on an XLT. Other than changing the wiring harness for the doors no additional jumpers were required to be run from the driver's side to the passenger's side to complete the functionality of the mirrors. As far as the wiring is concerned the lock/unlock plug needs to be removed from the previous driver's door harness and attached to the new one. As the Lariat models have the memory functions next to the lock/unlock button which requires a different plug. I also receive a DTC error on the IPMA module because it is detecting cameras that are not calibrated as I'm getting a B115E error for calibration.
