Never heard of that issue. Its certainly possible to have a bad unit.

Re-read the instructions and go from there. Even step 1 is important to do it exactly as it says. If you connect the connector then push the button it will not work.

If you really followed it exactly, I would call customer service and go from there.

I think I found the issue. After you remote start the truck and then shut it off remotely, you have to give it sometime between the next remote start or key start the truck. When I tried multiple back to back remote starts, that’s when I got the blinking lights, horn honks a d failed remote starts.

can someone try back to back key starts and let me know if they have the same problem? But remember don’t insert the key between the back to back remote starts.

thanks in advance.

Oh yea thats also true. Also, if you remote start it and shut it off too soon(like 10 seconds, maybe 30 seconds?) the truck will start again.

As far as back to back key starts, I am not sure what you mean since you also said not to insert the key. Kind of impossible to key start it without inserting the key??

Update...

I returned the starter x unit and received the replacement and everything works fine. No issues using the remote or the app to remote start my truck. I did have one issue at 1st, after remote starting the truck then shutting it down, the truck started back up. I didn’t hit any buttons or anything. So I decided to reprogram the device and no issues at all.

I did have to learn when. You remote start with the keyfob then enter your truck, if you press the brake before putting in the key and turning it, your truck will turn off. If you remote start via the FordPass app and do the same thing, the truck will stay on during the process of inserting your key. Other than that it seems to be working fine.

has anyone has any issues with battery drain or electrical issues wince they installed Starter X?

thanks for everyone’s help!!

mine did the same thing first start up. Shut the truck off and it turned back on. It has never done it again. No battery drain or anything weird. It has been flawless since the install!

Yes, the truck will start back up if you remote start it by the fob, get in and put the key in, turn the key to run and then shut the truck off.
The Start-X will start the truck again.

Otherwise it starts and runs exactly as if I used the ford pass app remote start.
These units are so good that my friend had the dealer install it in his 2019.

No battery drain or any issues what so ever. I left it for over a week and the truck still started right up.
