Default powerboost with lots of issues

As stated, my powerboost has lots of issues and has been in the shop for a week. I initially had a check engine light for low voltage to the power steering. I dropped it off and asked them to check the traction control and phantom alarm triggering while it was there. The traction control would kick in even at low speed while turning right and cut my acceleration in half. Pain in the ***.

They tried changing the battery and then the truck wouldn't even turn on. 20 minutes later it turned on to everyone's surprise. The new battery did not fix the low voltage isssue.

Today they informed me it is getting a new transmission and a new Hybrid drive unit in the hopes it will fix the problems they can't figure out. I feel like I bought a $69,000 lemon.

They did do the update to the Body control module for the phantom alarm problem, so I'm crossing my fingers that will fix it. Any one else have these problems?

That's the first I have heard of any of those except the alarm issue. The traction control while turning almost makes me think it's a crimped wire somewhere and the body flex is shorting something out. I feel like over the years we have seen people report odd electrical gremlins like this and it's usually down to a sensor or a problem in the wiring harness. When going through the factory there are a thousand chances for something to get crimped or pinched when someone is crawling around or assembling something else. Obviously they try to eliminate that, but stuff happens.

New transmission and Hybrid drive seems like a stretch to me, but I suspect they reached out to Ford's engineering team before making such a big request so I will go with them. Sorry about your truck.

Can you just change to another truck?

Just tell them that you have no faith in this build. And, justifiably so. If these issues exist this early god forbid what problems await in the future.

Yup. Start keeping detailed notes on everything; dates/times; phone calls - you name it.

Texas lemon law is pretty vague... they use 'reasonable' too much, but keep a very detailed journal. From past experience, 'reasonable' constitutes three attempts to resolve a major issue. Good luck!

Not sure what pack you got but i did not want the battery packs in mine i had a feeling they would be troublesome for a year or 2. Cool idea but just more to go wrong. I would def push for buy back or trade

Would be interested to hear what the result is. I definitely am not worried about the battery packs/motor, Ford gave them an extended warranty from the start of 8 years/100k miles. With that backing I am gladly taking my chances, especially since in my experience batteries and motors aren't generally a problem compared to ICE stuff. Ford obviously agrees because it isn't financially in their interest to have a warranty like that on something they don't expect to do well.

Default Shutting down

New powerboost, 1 week old, less than 1000 mi. I will paste a copy of the note I wrote for the service writer to give to the tech working on the truck at the dealership.

The truck had been running for approximately 1 minute. I backed it up to a trailer so that I could install the backup assist sensor.
The engine was running normally as I put the truck in park and exited. As I exited, the engine started running very rough for about 2 - 3 seconds and stalled.
It appeared that everything electrical running off the engine battery was operating normally, but the engine nor the electric motor would restart. (The engine would not turn over at all)
The following warning lights displayed on the dash - Orange “Check engine” light, red battery symbol (It did not specify if it was the engine battery or the drive battery), and another red symbol shaped as an outline of a truck with an exclamation point in the center. (I do not know what this symbol represents, because it is not shown in the owners manual)
All of the accessories in the truck seemed to be operating normally, but the truck would not start or let me take it out of Park.
After 2 hours of failing to find a problem, I called for a tow truck to haul the truck to your dealership. When the tow truck driver called to say they were on the way, I went to the truck to see if there was a way to put it in neutral for loading. I hit the start button and it started normally. The warning lights on the dash went out and the engine was running smoothly. I took it for a test drive and it performed normally. I canceled the tow truck.
Later that day my son brought over my code reader and we attempted to pull the codes on the truck. While attempting to scan the codes, the truck started running rough and stalled several times, but did not shut down totally or show any warning lights.
I had noticed previously that the truck would sometimes idle roughly while at a stoplight but it didn’t seem to be bad enough to cause concern at the time. I was going to have you look at it when I came in for my first oil change.

Engine sometimes idles rough while stopped at a light or when in neutral. Sometimes will stall out.

I have not heard anything back yet, they said they would look at it tomorrow. What I am trying to find out is what that red warning light in the shape of a truck with an exclamation point in the center, stands for. The service writer had no idea, it is not shown in the owners manual and a call to ford customer service was no help. It is NOT the hood open warning, the hood is closed in the light. It is on the dash next to the battery warning light. Anyone have any idea's what it is?
