Default Mounting a dash cam

Hey all,

I bought the Rexing R4 4 channel dash cam today, and while I wait for it to arrive, I would like to know how you all have mounted your dash cams.
It comes with a sticky mount to mount it on the windshield, but I was hoping one of you had a more "permanent" or solid way of mounting the unit to your mirror area.
I work at a metal fab shop so I could get the guys to fab me up something if you have an idea you like.

BTW, if you are interested in this, you can get it at almost $100 off with their sale and the coupon from retailmenot - I think it is rexing2024 - you should double check that.

Let me know, Cheers!

Mine is stuck to the windshield behind the rear view mirror.

Bulletproof mounting solutions. Solid as a rock and no wires running up the window

Mine was just to the right of the rearview mirror and I used that dongle that plugged in between the mirror power connector.

Yup another, stuck to windshield behind mirror and used a Dongar Technologies power adaptor connector. Slick.

Powering the cam is another issue. Wish Ford has a power outlet on the top of the dash. Or made it easier to have those AUX switches in the roof console.

I ran my power cable up under the roof liner, down under the trim on the A pillar, then up under the glove box over to the 12 volt outlet. Nothing is really exposed except the few inches of cable going into the outlet.

I had planned to eventually hard wire it somewhere but the 12 volt outlet stays on a few minutes after I shut the truck off and then turns off so it works out pretty good. If you have a higher trim level with the auto dimming mirror and whatever else I've seen people mention tapping into power up there.

@jhelrey You have not had an issue with the sticky getting weak due to summer heat?
