Yes we won't really know until we get some actual people driving actual trucks and reporting back here. Then we'll have to account or their driving speed, temperature and wind.
Got it now. Knowing the two numbers, charge rate and range added, one can calculate consumption. Thank you for clarifying.

I would like to go to a dealer and get a SALES BROCHURE. I always got one and read it before buying. I know you can get one online

the price of gas has gone up 50% in the last year. what do you think will happen to the price of electricity when everyone has an electric vehicle?

Weather, such as rain, also impacts range, as does change in altitude.

1. Year-year changes in gas prices coming out of the global pandemic that saw negative oil prices is...silly at best.
2. The price of gas is lower than it was 13 years ago. If you want to pick and choose comparisons.
3. The price of electricity to operate vehicles is generally lower than gasoline to operate a similar vehicle.
4. At 2% of new vehicle sale being EV's, and hundreds of millions of gassers on the road, we have a long time until everyone has an EV.
5. The sky is not falling. It's all going to be okay

pandemic? we had a pandemic in 2020 and 2021 and gas prices were reasonable. january 2022 prices shot up? why? guess!!!
NO I don;t want to go back to 1974. 50% in one year is a killer. we were just getting used to filling our cars and going for a fun drive. now we can't afford to.

Rick... - "Weather, such as rain, also impacts range, as does change in altitude."

Agreed. Rain not as much as altitude change. On the Tesla forums where the discussion is about consumption, the readers usually avoid including data from those conditions when comparing consumption per mile. So I would assume that would happen here too. It just makes it easier to get an accurate number.
Trip planning software tends to use change in altitude when calculating range but rain and wind are usually not included.

Good thing gas prices "shot" back up to where they had already been prior to the pandemic.

Prices are literally no higher now than a decade ago

It will go down. Seriously. The ideal time to charge an EV for the consumer is at night. The ideal time to charge an EV for the utility is at night when nationwide we have a 50% surplus generating capacity. Unused capacity that EVs can put to use. The ability to sell more electricity with the same capital investment puts money in the utility's pocket they would not otherwise have. Lowering costs.

Nothing (I’m always the optimist)
With about the same money one pays for one add on package (i.e. a 502A), one can get a small solar installation to power, if not all, at least a significant part of one’s driving. We all have access to a free fusion generator in the sky.
