Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I actually prefer the column shift over a console shifter or fold-away shifter anyway, so that works out well. While it is a neat idea, I guess I'm a traditionalist in that sense, haha. I hadn't seen anything that answers this specifically, so I appreciate your help!

Default 40-20-40

I just ordered my 40-20-40 Lariat 2021 Hybrid... and with the optional worksurface for the extra $165.

I'm getting the console and the console shifter, correct??

No. Your getting the work surface built into the back of the "20" seat.

Check out the video in this thread. The demonstration of the work surface on the 40/20/40 seats starts around 3:20.

Ok, I'm very concerned because all of the lariat pictures show the full normal console, but the ford-build-it site feature shows the center folded down.

Just called my agent at dealer for clarification but he said he'd have to get back to me, but 40-20-40 also means console.

So I'm still super-confused.

EDIT : 40-20-40 does NOT also mean console - I was given bad info at first. I changed to 40-console-40, removed 40-20-40.

I edited my first post to include the video. Check it out. It's at 3:20.

The "20" isn't a console. It's a Fold down seat.

Yes, and I see that my dealer is incorrect. I'm putting in a change order now to make sure it's console!

Thanks so much for your help, glad I noticed/worried about this before my VIN and Date got issued!

Glad to help. After adding in the bucket seats with the console, and your current order having the chrome package on top of your 501A, maybe have the dealer run the numbers of just going up to a 502a. The chrome and buckets with console are standard. Might not be that much more and you get more stuff.

So after reading your post, I reviewed it and found that you're right - for ~2500 more of the already 6k upgrade, I get folding mirrors, subscribed nav system, all the intelligent lane centering, lane signaling, etc etc stuff - plus the updated ac/heat stuff (not a big deal) - so I elected to go from 501a to 502a.

Thanks!

I sent in the second change order, I'm sure my salesmanager is slapping his forehead over me today.

Am I the only one who finds this hideaway shifter to be gimmicky?

So if the shifter is "hidden" then theres push buttons to engage transmission?
How many will just fold the shifter in and use the push buttons on a regular basis?

The pocket that the shifter tucks into looks to be an awesome place to collect donut crumbs, sesame seeds from my burgers, coffee drips and such.

Ford determined most folks like the center gear **** (and I agree) so, in order to have the work station (another want from customers) work, they needed some way to move the shifter.
