I *thought* an expert chimed in and said the folding shifter was standard up and down the lineup for 40/20/40 console trims. I remember many complaining that it could fail, and also many thinking the work surface could be added later (lid swap).

So I would not take this as definitive yet...
You would be correct, standard on console trims. It's listed in the online brochures and every model I saw at Ford drive had it.
There will either be a release mechanism to permit raising the shifter to the up position, or it will set in detents rather than locked, so one can just pull it up.
These pics are from the F150Gen14 site. Someone organized a bunch of pics and vid for the interiors by trim level. The pictures below are from the Lariat. Is it my imagination or does the forst picture look like the center console lid doesnt include the worksurface option? if you look at the lower portion below the line it doesnt seem as thick as it does in the 2nd picture. This might also be a matter of camera angle. Any thoughts?

I think it is camera angel. It tappers at the end and the first shot shows that more than the second.
