Default Financing

Hey Guys, So, I ordered a F150 Lariat 502A in Antimatter Blue/Baja Tan back in July, now its sitting at the train yard waiting delivery to the dealership. I have been working with them on getting everything finalized (all in price etc.) before hand so i just have to sign some docs and drive off. Anyways, the sales guy has all of a sudden told me that their $2600 "Ford Armor" package is mandatory when getting X-Plan pricing. When I ordered it, the sheet states i will be getting X-Plan pricing. I can find nothing anywhere that says they can do that. I am pretty sure Ford has specific rules they have to follow in order to be a partner in the program. The sheet i have from them when i ordered it says nothing about the package. I have already put $1000 down upon delivery, spend $2500 on winter tires and another set of 21 OEM rims, so im not super interested in walking away from this deal.

What is your thoughts on this?

Thanks Guys

Dealer add on for pure profit. Unfortunately they will have somebody willing to pay MSRP pretty quick if you walk.

i would definitely take the sheet that you have signed when ordered and they are always trying to sell something extra when they know they are going loose money on the truck since you ordered it. Also I believe their is another thread with x plan details in them.

Yeah the Administrator plucked it out of
that thread and moved it to here for some reason.

Sounds like a scumbag dealership/salesman. I'd walk on principle.

A dealer may add "add-ons" to a plan sale at an agreed upon price. Hence, if you don't agree, they take your order and sell it at retail with a markup. Scummy.

The dealership may charge any price negotiated (at or above dealer cost) between the dealer and the customer for undercoating, dealer installed options, extended service contracts and other items or services that add value to the vehicle, provided such items are priced separately and listed individually on the retail buyer's order and the AXZD-Plan Pricing Agreement.

Too late to transfer your order. Not smart to spend money on a truck you don't yet own. Call the GM now. Always amazes me when people don't read the rules and then are surprised by a dealer who does crap like this. Could have specified "no dealer installed options" on the order and made GM sign.

That is just one of the sh*ttier things a dealer can and will do...they think they have you by the *****...and maybe they do. If you DO take delivery of the truck, give them sh*tty reviews on their "MUST HAVE ALL 5 STARS" survey. Contact the BBB and lodge a complaint. Go onto social media and blast them...it is a remarkable tool.

Do not walk on principle, that is bad advice in this market and is a habit some still have from when trucks would sit on a lot for weeks. In this market they will have sold your truck to someone else before your taillights are out of view. But be prepared to walk if they dig their heels in. The dealer is going to get their money either way, and you can make note of this for future dealings. What Rick said is absolutely correct though, never put a deposit down. That isn't required by Ford, it is the dealer trying to get you to put skin in the game even though they aren't doing the same.

Tell them Ford Armor wasn't in the original agreement, and that is NOT a stipulation of X-Plan in general. If the dealer has that as part of their X-Plan deals, they need to show where something you signed/agreed to indicates as much.

If they say, well we didn't include it, do you want the truck or not? Say, only if I get the original agreed to price. If they say no, at that point get your deposit back. Once you have it, put a Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc review on their business page about what they did, and sadly move on.

Don't tell them you already bought tires and that, don't give them an inch. But give them a chance to back off, because you have waited this long and the wait won't be any easier if you start over.
