The fear of BEV fires is largely due to media coverage of them as it's a novelty, not because they do so at a higher rate than ICE vehicles on a per capita basis.
Exactly. Come on people, let's try to use common sense, please.
If you were unfortunate enough to be in a horrific accident, say T-boned by another truck, would you prefer that it be by a Lightning, or a truck like this, with 100 gallons of gas in the bed?
I'm a reporter and I'm wondering: What do folks think of the forthcoming electric F-150? Is anyone considering buying one?
Not if it has 2 steering wheels, lol. No really the range is poor, they say cut your range in half for towing and another 10% for heater or a/c. No concrete information on regen when going downhill, or how reliable it is. Only plus side is a frunk/storage. Also would like more info about changing tire sizes. Mass production of chips in a hurry usually results in poor quality/ chip shortage. I think you wait for 2nd or 3rd gen. I personally would rather get a rivian if I went that route.

In my area, I see them every day.
I'll take the Lightning, thank you.
EVs are not going to eliminate trucks with aux fuel tanks in their beds, electric construction equipment is needed for that.
The tail lights look just as bad in my opinion. Seems like a ugly way to redesign a tail light in the 2015-2020 bedside. Why not work with the 2021 bedside?
So what exactly is this base $40K model like that will cost $32500 after tax credit? That's a full size 4wd crew cab pickup for less than a Chevy Bolt! Any way you look at it that's damn impressive, but I suspect it will be as rare as 2wd regular cab trucks on dealer lots. Still, just keeping the XLT price in line with a regular XLT is also impressive.
This thing obviously won't be for everybody but it's going to be very attractive to anybody considering an EV. That's assuming they can deliver it in less than a year.
Never mind batteries, they should fill the "frunk" with a big-*** generator. Then it would work like the Chevy Volt, an awesome concept for a hybrid.
They show this thing happily towing boats and travel trailers down the road and powering entire houses and such. Yeah, sure, for a few miles or minutes and then you're calling Bubba who can only show up with a 5 gallon gas can you both can take turns sitting on. This is going to be another one of those "looks good on paper" projects. Either way I need the already short 6.5 foot bed in a truck, not the baby bed.

For both tail light and headlamps I expect it's becqause that way, they can re-use the existing tooling for the body parts (those tools are freaking expensive). I actually like the outershape of the 13th gen tail lights more thna 14th gen, but the light signature of the Lightning is a bit like cheap ebay lights....
Still put in the (refundable) 100$ reservation last night, hust for the fun of it
Honestly, if I could get 250miles range with my 6500 lbs trailer and 2hrs charging time for that, it would cover 99% of my requirements, and for the 1% I'd just work around it somehow.

They estimate it can power the average home for about three days. That's going to meet the needs of what most people want out of a generator.
Towing, yeah, that's going to be an issue. This isn't for you, then. But believe it or not, an awful lot of truck owners don't tow long distances. Oh, and I managed to literally haul my finished basement home in a 5.5' bed, so that can be kind of useful too.
