Could all the bells and whistles be the problem? Don't know. I've got a 2019 XL with a few enhancements 101a I guess, original battery and hasn't been a problem. I also however, have listened to folks on here recommending having a Charger/Maintainer ( CTEK MXS 5.0) to periodically bring the battery back up to full charge. If I bought a new battery today that Ford put in for me I do the same before the next day came. I have the charger on my truck right now and I expect it to fully charge it back up sometime this evening. Just prior, I had checked the voltage, 12.28 volts after running errands all morning. That's about 60% of battery charge and we have another storm coming tomorrow so I want take this and get it back up to 12.6 100%. My battery had been as low as 12.19% and still started the engine with plenty of strength. The problem is mostly related to the BMS and I thought for 2021 Ford had made changes to its programming. Realize, a new battery, if not fully charged will act no different than a 3 year old battery if the BMS sees a low charge as its standing charge and controls by it, even if a dealership resets the BMS. Don't trust the dealership. Check the voltage yourself when you get home with your truck and charge it to 100%. Then, once you know it is, make sure everything is off, lock the truck and give the BMS its 8 hours to set the full standing charge level. You buy a brand new truck, drive it home, right? You have no idea what the stand voltage is but if it's a good battery, which most likely it is, you can take control of the situation. Get the charger I identified above.

I don’t think it is due to options in higher trims. I think software has bug that creates excessive draw in battery. I had 2016 Platinum and never had battery issues. I could not start for a week plus and it always turned over.

Do you keep a charger on hand? Some on here have used forscan to eliminate the BMS and cured the problem. Some have just unplugged it from the battery with no problems created. Doing so, allows the alternator to charge full time and by its own regulator, like in the good old days before they turned trucks into laptops.

I’ve got one coming Saturday. Truck at dealer now so we’ll see what they find and fix they proposed. No ETA given power issues in DFW.

You have a 2021 now? I may have confused something. You referred to your 2016.

Or typos on my part due to not wearing readers.

I had a 2016 that I got rid of in 2019 and never had battery issues. I got a 2021 in December and been having battery issues.

there is in fact a software issue that’s causing this - see my post above.

no fix available and dealers are not allowed to talk about it, the authorized response is ‘the truck is working as designed’...

fix will likely take a while longer...
