Default Electrical parasite issue

Left the truck sit for a week. App said it went into deep sleep mode at 3 days of sitting. Battery completely dead. Took it to the dealer, they did a load test on the battery and it’s good but there is a drain on my battery somewhere. Anyone else experiencing this?

Default Resetting BMS

Update on my 2021 Platinum shutting down the power every time. I charged with smart charger until it said full; had same issue. I found this sequence to reset the battery management system and it worked! Hopefully just a new truck fluke.
  1. Get in vehicle, close doors
  2. Turn on ignition (but don't start)
  3. Wait for battery light to come up
  4. Flash brights 5 times
  5. Press and release brake 3 times
  6. Battery symbol on dashboard should flash after 5-10 seconds

I have a new 21 and haven't experienced this. My truck only sits for a day maybe two at the most.

I had the same issue when it was on the lot and signing papers.. it would not even jump so I got a new battery and no issue since. Only a few days though.

My truck sits at 3 to 4 days at a time as I have a work vehicle. I was greeted with a Park Brake Fault, Service Now alert and could not open my doors in any electronic way. I manually entered the vehicle and tried to start the engine, no crank.

Then a member here told me that the 12v battery is probably the cause and I performed a jump and all was well.

I do have a Dash Cam plugged in at all times but it auto shuts off and turns on only in events of movement.

Anybody know if the hybrid trucks can tap off the powerboost battery if the regular battery is dead? Or even use the bigger battery to trickle charge the conventional battery if the truck sits for a while?

I've had my 2021 Platinum for less than 2 weeks...just received this Deep Cycle mode for the first time yesterday. Haven't added any accessories, but did look at my invoice and noticed my truck was built in October and delivered to the dealer in January. I had also turned on the wifi hotspot Saturday so I turned that off today to see if it makes a difference. As it stands right now, it displays the "system is shutting down" screen every time I shut if off. Even ran a smart charger on it over night last night...same result today.

The 48v and 12v systems are separate. Same with the 2000w ecoboost trucks, separate 24v and 12v circuits.

Seems to me, you could by a 110v trickle charger to maintain the 12v battery. LOL, this is going to be funny as ****, owners plugging into the powerboost system to keep the starting battery functioning. WTF Ford, fix this already.

[QUOTE=Flamingtaco;6830022]The 48v and 12v systems are separate. Same with the 2000w ecoboost trucks, separate 24v and 12v circuits.

Just depends on how they’ve designed the system. No need to invert the 48v up to 120ac; they could just put in a low wattage 12v trickle charge circuit fed off 48v, that kicks in a few days after the truck goes into deep sleep to maintain the 12v battery. That would be pretty efficient and I would imagine the 1.5 kwh battery would have the grunt to run that circuit a while. And if you run down the state of charge of the hybrid battery a bit, who cares, if it means your truck starts at 2:00 AM after sitting two weeks in the airport parking lot! Wouldn’t think that would be too expensive; if they offered it as an option I’d take it.

interesting idea to do it yourself (less efficiently) by just plugging a charger into the powerboost outlet. Wonder how they control long term access to power; do you have to periodically tell the truck ok to power the outlets via the Ford pass app?

If this were a widespread issue, I would think it would have more notice than a few posts here. These trucks sit on dealer lots for more than 3 days before someone buys them, especially if you include transport from factory and all that. Every F-150 dealers try to sell would be dead.

Not saying there isn't an issue, but I have seen these phantom drain posts for every model year F-150, and on vehicles from other brands. Can't recall ever seeing it be due to something that impacts all vehicles though.
