I had help.

And I agree, which is one reason why I got a truck with a bigger bed. When I had the 5.5ft bed, it was open a lot.

I went with 6.5' cause I like to haul stuff. doesn't look weird to me. I got my truck to do work. If I wanted a vehicle to just commute, I would have bought an econobox. Hell, if I could have got the same truck with an 8' bed, I would have bought it on the spot. Alas, that was not to be.

Next truck will be either a RAM3500 or going back to an SD, so I can have 8' bed and some decent payload. 1500lbs just ain't cutting it.

and as far as parking, the past 2 trucks were both duallies. So parking this "long" f150 is a breeze. I feel like I'm driving a big sports car. just zip it in n out of places.

HDPP will net you up to around 2400 lbs on a Crew Cab short bed, 2700 on a Supercab long bed, and 3100 on a Regular Cab longbed. (HDPP is of course not available with the extra short bed on Crew Cab and short bed on Supercab and regular cab.)

If you don't constantly use the rear seat for adult passengers, going to a Supercab for the long bed is absolutely worth it. You only lose 10" of cab but gain 18" of bed.

Edit:
Extra short bed - 5.5'
Short bed - 6.5'
Long bed - 8'

I need the Crew Cab cause I haul kids to school and we go on vaca trips with the truck (and towing the TT, if need be). Also, a short bed does not cut it. So I'm kinda stuck with the 6.5'. I realize that I could get better payload ratings with other setups, but the Pros/Cons picked the CC/long bed. Just the way it is. I'm happy with what my truck can do. It's not perfect but it does what I need it to do... for now.

Fortunately I have a well oversized garage. I could park a Crew Cab with an 8' bed (would be tight, but would fit). My last truck and current '21 XLT have a 6 1/2' bed and that serves me well. With a bed extender I can haul hauling 4X8 sheet rock or plywood comfortably when I need to do that. The shorter bed makes it a bit easier to park. I don't think I would not be happy with the 5 1/2' bed.
