I have a 6.5 with my ordered SCREW.

I plan on building a simple camping set up in the back of it. I have the 7.2kw pro power on board and will simplify truck bed camping with all that power on tap. Won't need to require any propane or diesel heater set up for heat in the winter.

The annoyance of having to deal with the longer truck far outweighs the inconvenience of not having it. Plus, SCREW short beds look much better. That is my opinion.
I have zero issues parking my SuperCrew with the 6.5' bed. It's old hat to me now. When we go into town, I parallel park in front of outside seating for pubs and restaurants. I often have people greet me with literal applause after squeezing into places most people wouldn't try with a Focus (no, I don't use the self-parking feature). Perhaps that because I spent years doing the same thing with a F350 SuperDuty with the 6.75" bed. Also, my one garage (where I park the truck) is 24' deep, so that's easy to get in with all the cameras and such on the truck. Had a 2012 with the 5.5' bed. Ended up hating it, but as you said ... to each their own.

I had the 5.5 and wanted to sleep in the back of my truck which wasn't possible.. so I had the 6.5 in my 2016 and I fit in nicely.

The new Lariat will be 6.5 and I could probably add a shell, a bed, maybe a porta potty, and it'll have the 7.2kW plug so I could camp in it.

When lots of folks above say “bikes”, I assume you’re referring to motorbikes/dirt bikes?

Because I see plenty of folks at the mtn bike park who hang their mtb’s over the gate without any issue and it looks like 5.5ft beds (for various makes).

Personally I’m only looking at 5.5ft beds as an option. The parking and garage size and our likely uses for the truck means 5.5 is almost definitely enough for us (it’s already a couple feet longer than our current vehicles!)

I have a 6.5 Scab. I would actually like a 5.5 Scab but that is no longer an option.

IMO, 6.5' bed on a Super Crew looks better than a 5.5' bed. BTW, the truck I'm selling is a Super Cab with an 8' box.

2015, 6.5' bed SuperCrew for me. I think it's perfectly proportioned. I'm a deer hunter and sometimes have a deer cart, a climbing tree stand and other gear back there, and if God forbid I actually shoot a deer, it's got to go in there. So, yeah it gets pretty full. I was doing a reno on a house last year and had to haul a lot of stuff to the dump, and I appreciated the larger bed. I also do inspection work and need at least a 6 foot step ladder, and one of those folding and extending ladders to fit in my truck without turning it diagonally and taking up a boatload of space. It's not the easiest vehicle to park, but the back up camera is really nice and I'll back that truck in anywhere. Pulling in...not so much. Mine won't fit in my garage, but that's a height issue. I say, buy what you like and what suits your needs and be happy with it.

This is how I did it with my Supercrew 5.5ft bed. Now that I have an 8' bed things should fit a bit easier.

That buck looks a little cramped and I'm sure he would appreciated you having an 8' bed. At least he had plenty of leg room.

I was wondering how he got him out of there when he got home or to the processor...

That being said, he got a lot of stuff in that 5.5' bed. As for me, I don't like to leave my tailgate open when hauling.
