Picked up a used 21 today and had expected there would be slots in the bed to use 2x wood as a divider but there are only slots on passenger side. Drivers side has the electric outlet and no slots. Is this normal? If so other ideas for divider?

I just purchased these, i think it is the best option for extender / divider. Total money spent $192.

Yep took the 1x4 out of my 2015. Went to put it in the new truck and the same thing happened. What good is the slots on one side? Ford overlooked this I think
I actually have a 2x8 or maybe a 2x12, I forget which, in the back of my '21 Powerboost now stuck into slots on both sides. I'm guessing maybe there are slots in my drop in liner but not in both sides of the bed itself underneath? It is held rigidly in place at the top by a ratcheting cargo bar screwed to it, an idea I got from the forums somewhere. I figured stepping from a 5.5 to a 6.5 foot bed I didn't need an extender anymore so I foolishly left the Amp research unit I had in my Tundra on there when I traded it. I've come to think a simple plank in the bed slots doesn't give me enough room to store larger things I need to have back there near the tailgate like folding chairs, large coolers, or over night bags for a road trip hotel layover.
Bed dividers aren't that cheap so I figured might as well get both functions and spend a few more bucks for a new extender. Now that a shipment of the readyramp units has cleared Customs and they are back in stock I snapped one of them up and it should be arriving soon. Did not feel like spending 350-plus for the OEM extender even though it has some nice features. Wanted no drilling, and once you add no drill brackets to the Amp Research extenders they run you about the same as a Readyramp or more.
The above bed extenders are nice, but if you want to use the truck without it, you have to remove it completely AND store it somewhere.
I went with the OEM bed divider. It splits in half and folds up alongside each side of the bed. Can also be flopped out (to extend the bed) or flopped in (to create small cubby at the rear for hauling thigs you don't want flopping around the bed).
This is the divider in my truck when it is flipped in -- note that I do NOT have to two halves locked together (no particular reason; I had just gotten done installing it). Just imagine the image above but flipped inside instead of outside.

Agreed.
I got my AMP bed extender for Christmas a few years back. It's been great. Not super cheap, but affordable (I think) and pretty sturdy given its lightweight design. It was purchased during the height of the holidays and AMP, RealTruck, and other vendors ran out of the no-drill F-150 brackets. So, I had to make my own similar in design. I think it worked out way better since I was able to adjust the pivot point to make the rails more level to my liking.
Someone recently posted an image of the bed divider all trashed by a heavy load. This looks plastic, so I'm wondering how "heavy duty" it really is versus the aftermarket metal types.
