I bought a couple of those cargo bars to see if I liked them - the Harbor Freight ones are cheap and if you find you use them enough it might be worth springing for better versions down the road, they're like $27 full price and of course they go on sale all the time.
you'd have to look at their website - they have a loop that can be adjusted like a tie-down....and theres NOTHING from preventing you from putting more tie downs on it....its also being pulled against the bed (front) or tailgate....it really doesn't need to be tied down in multiple places...its not pivoting or FLIPPING like the other bed extenders, so its not an issue.
I dont plan on keeping the ready ramp in my truck all the time....for that I'll just keep a cargo bar in the bed....they're cheap enough im not worried about it getting stolen.
Personally - I've used a "cargo bar" for years as a way to partition things off and keep items from rolling around....good enough for a long haul trucker....its work for me plenty of times!
Yeah, I have one of those. It’s good for some jobs where I need to get in the bed and can arrange stuff, but I don’t leave it installed all the time. I actually have a cargo net up most of the time, But it isn’t great for grocery bags or heavier things.
I was hoping to have something a little more easy to access and use without getting into the bed. The ramp one appealed to me because it’s dual purpose, and if I need to take it out because I need the bed, I could always fold it and put it on top or along side whatever I’m carrying. I like the OEM style a bit better as it seems more customizable, but I sometimes need to put sheet goods in the bed and with the OEM one its unclear if when they’re tucked to the sidewalls if I can fit a 4x8 sheet of something without it interfering.
I have the Amp Research bed extender in my 2018 with the no drill brackets. When it's folded into the bed as a bed divider a rectangular laundry basket fits quite nicely between it and the tailgate and is a great place to put grocery bags so they don't move around.
You can also easily bungee or use a tie down strap to it as well as your corner hooks or Box link tie downs.
It's also very easy for me, a small woman to take out of the truck or put back back in for the times I need the whole bed and don't want the extender.

The hardest part of the install was drilling the holes through my plastic drop in bedliner for the no drill brackets as the bedliner covers the 4 holes. I did a great job on 3 and one was slightly off so you can see the edge of the hole around the bracket. On at least one video the guy installed those brackets just slipping them through the holes and tightening them with a rachet but that was a no go for me, possibly due to the thickness of the drop in liner. I pulled out the tail lights to put the brackets on. That way I could just feed the bracket bolts through the holes and slip those rectangular things on the back that keep it in place and then put the nuts on and tighten.

I appreciate these details mate. My question is when the extender is deployed ( sitting on your tailgate) how far does it go back ? Or shall I say if I can see picture of how much room it it covers on the tailgate. Thanks
It does look just like Independence Driver's pics. It comes very close to the edge of the tailgate and adds about 2 feet to the bed length. I have the 6.5 foot bed so that gets me about 8.5 feet.
I picked this one up off Ebay. For the 20 model it screws right in but for the 21+ you need to remove the tailights and attach a flat washer and nut to secure it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/17504960090...df4c%7Ciid%3A1
That’s about right, I also have the 6 1/2’ bed.
when I bought mine it was after I had purchased the bed cover. I did not know about the “No Drill” mounting brackets that were available separately. I had to create some spacers so the bed extender would clear the cover rails. Looks like the “no drill” brackets would have worked fine for my install without the spacers.
