Default Eexplain the engine and trans tune for me.

New member with a stupid question!

What is the tune process? Strictly software based or is there mechanical changes.
I notice a lag in acceleration and erratic shifting in the few miles I have added to it.
2019 F-150 Lariat, 5.0 with 10 speed transmission and it seems to inherited the issues from the previous 2014 F-150 Lariat, 5.0, 6 speed automatic.

Stock trans tune is meant for economy, hence the 'lag'.
Try sport mode a bit and see how you like it.

Tunes are ONLY software changes.

Default OK, another stupid question!

Is the software tuning something that can be done through FORScan?
Or do I need to purchase additional hardware?
I visited the OZ site and there was devises for sale that would bust my budget. I am only looking to preform a one-time tune to this vehicle, not multiple tunes and vehicles.

Thank you.

No, you will need to purchase a tuner. Forscan is a separate system all together. Once you purchase a tune it is recommended to find a facility or tuner that can do road tuning, or tune from datalogs.

So much to learn!
I tried Sport mode and it was somewhat better. However, the shifting was rather harsh.
I'll continue my research, do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for the reply.

So you have a 2019 Lariat and $600 for a tune and a MPVI2 will bust your budget? What's the plan for gas money?

As for gas money, I plan on asking for donations on a busy intersection!

OK, like my wife tells me. "You have a strange sense of humor!"
All joking aside.

I ordered a SCT SF/X4 tuner yesterday. I also received my ELMConfig Saturday and plan on tinkering with the FORScan setting over the weekend.
I have yet to decided on whether to purchase a tune or just go with the onboard tunes.
I'm not going to do any add-ons, I'm too old for that. I just like tinkering.

Are you certain a X4 will work? I just sold mine as I wasn't able to get the tune I wanted with it.
I'd have suggested an MPVI2 with an Omega tune.

after hours of research, i made a mistake!
I relied on the site description and the information was presented as a unit for a 2019 F-150 with the 5.0 engine. I’ll try it and return it if it doesn’t do what I want. They offer a satisfaction guarantee.
thanks for the recommendation.

The X4 works on 2019's just not all tuning companies support it yet. 5 Star does support it. MPT has a wait list you can sign up for. They say they are about to support it.
