Default 5* tune shift delay

Hey guys. I’m currently running a 5* e85 tune. I love the tune so far but I’m getting a weird shift delay when the trans goes into 4th at WOT. It feel likes a dead spot or tq management activating. Anybody else experience this? 2020 f150 10 speed

thanks

This is an artifact of the stock tune, any shifts that occur around the stock limiter are kinda mushy.

Now, have to ask, did you email 5 star or run to the interwebs? Seems like they should be given at least one chance to fix it first.

You should be in contact with the custom tuner 5* and NOT this forum. They made it, they need to be made aware of your concern as they are the only ones that can correct it. FWIW I've had nothing but great service from 5* with the custom tunes they made for me so I know they can and WILL take care of your concerns.

I made a post about it in August as well. Haven't had the time to look in to it further myself. Please post if something comes of it for you. (though people have mentioned it can probably be fixed)

This forum is the interwebs so.. Now, there is nothing wrong with someone asking a question on here. This is a legitimate question that's not a one sentence post (could have said engine etc though) from a newer member. Feedback on the forums is generally a lot quicker than from the tuning shops, and can save the tuning shops time from answering redundant questions; among other time saving things. For all he knows, maybe that's how it's suppose to be, or maybe just double checking with what the tuning shop told him? Your out of line.

Again this forum is here to ask question and post answers among other things. Why wouldn't a person ask here first before bothering the tuners that are busy as previously said (this is the tuning section)? Are you two figuring this is a troll trying to slam 5 Star?

Default No

But is asking forum members going to accomplish anything? No. 5 star had to fix it. Seems a bit trolly to be honest.

The stock tune has some “dead” shifts programmed in. Often around the top speed limiter. There is no defined particular gear that does it, because it depends on the axle gearing. But 4-5 can be the shift that is slow and slushy, and happens to be near the limiter. Regarding my artifact comment - Aftermarket pump gas tunes are 95% Ford base calibrations, in the case of some tuners (cough - BCB - cough), 99% is stock, with a handful of changes.

The only reason I mention it is an existing both on the six speed and now on the 10 speed. It must be an intentional thing in the stock calibration. I had to have them tighten it up in my tune on my 3.5 L as well
