Default crazy electrical issues. PLEASE READ

Need some help here guys. I'll give the rundown as short as possible.

2 days ago I got in my 2006 XLT and turned the key over and nothing happened. On the 3rd try it cranked right up. Next morning same thing except it never did crank. Came home from work and cleaned posts and connection really well and it cranked right up. So naturally, yesterday I go and spend $130 on a new battery. Cranked right up today UNTIL I came home and parked it for about an hour. Got back in and nothing happened. Lights work, power windows and doors work, radio and dash board light work. Unhooked the battery, checked some fuses then put everything back. Now the lights, doors, and widows still work but the radio and dash lights won't come on. When I turn the key over, nothing happens. Its like the truck doesn't even know I'm in there! Also, the dinging noise that it makes when the key is in and door open has stopped doing that.

Sorry that was so long.

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on. I have never heard of, or seen anything like this. I don't even know where to start trying to fix this problem!!

Any help would GREATLY be appreciated.

I had zero electrics on my 2012 a few weeks after buying...no lights, chimes, no clicking or cranking. Battery checked OK, would not crank with a jump start. After towing to dealership, fault was a door lock module that parcels out electric power to various other electrical systems. Weird, but no trouble since the module was replaced.

I got my buddy to come try to jump me off a couple of hours ago and still nothing. At one point when I would turn it over and the radio and dash light would come on I could hear one click when I turned it over, but now it acts like it doesn't even know the key is in the ignition.

Ok guys got the dash lights and radio to come back on. I had pulled the ignition switch feed fuse to check it and didn't get it put back in all the way.

So now I am back to the truck just won't freaking start! I can hear a click under the dash of it trying to do something but wont even attempt to turn over.

Think i'm on to something.

The red light on the dash is blinking faster and brighter red than normal. When I turn the truck to the on position the light stays illuminated, which I don't believe it normally does. Could this be a security lock up? If so is there any way to fix it?

The red light is the security/anti-theft light. Two things may be happening. (1) the chip in the key is bad as stated or(2) the RAP unit (or BAM ?) module has gone bad. It's located in the passengers kick panel. This module controls all of the trucks dash lights, door locks, auto headlights, and the security system. If you don't have another key w/a chip you'll have to get the dealer to do a master reset and cut you new keys ($75 to $100 per key) if he has to replace the RAP unit it will be a lot more $500???

Update for anyone thats interested. Pulled the starter and had it tested at my local autozone. Tested good. The guy that helped me there suggested I try replacing the ingition switch. Only a 50 dollar part so I bought it.

Is the ignition switch located in the steering column or on the passenger side fuse box?

The ignition switch usually is the key assembly with a new key. It wouldn't have been $50. The Ignition switch module is in the steering column behind the key assembly. This requires removal of the airbag and the steering wheel to install. This is not something you should try if you've never done it before BUT if you decide to try it you must disable the airbag first or risk serious injury. You'll also need a steering wheel puller. Once the wheel is off the module is just under the wheel. Verify the part you bought is correct before starting. This should help......... www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ8AAXQL5HI‎
