Default rear end issues need help

i have just purchased a 97 f-150 4.2L that the rear end went out on while i was driving home. not sure what the tag says but i know it has drum brakes. my question is i just bought a rear end that came out of a 2000 f-150 but it has disc brakes im pretty sure it'll bolt in no problem but just curious if im getting myself into a headache the rearend tag i got says s828a 3 55 88 9j21 if anyone knows what that means. just wondering if it's as simple as i think it should be i have the leaf sprins and all

Welcome. What you bought should work. Mechanically everything is the same BUT there could be a difference in the gear ratio. Take the tag number off the old axle and Google search 1997 F-150 rear end #------ and it will give you the ratio i.e. (3:73's 3:55 4:11s) What you bought has 3:55's. Make sure you install new brake hoses and service the rear end gear oil w/modifier added after you do the install.
